Mangalore, February 7: The UT Fareed Foundation in association with Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy conducted the Haji UT Fareed Memorial Lecture. The workshop was held on Tuesday in memory of former Ullal MLA U T Fareed to mark his his fifth death anniversary at the seminar hall of M V Shetty College.

Inaugurating the event, Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, Secretary of the Trust, recalled the late Fareed as a dynamic personality who was an undefeated MLA for four terms, starting his term in 1972.

Mr Shetty also emphasized the role of Physiotherapy in improving women's health.

Chief guest Dr Manjunath Kamath, Assistant Professor in Obstretics and Gynecology at AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, said that Dr M V Shetty College He stressed on the need for improving the condition of women's health in India.

Dr S Earnest Jacob, Principal Dr MV Shetty College of Physiotherapy, welcomed the gathering and delivered introductory remarks.

The resource persons for the day were Dr Manjunath Kamath, A J Institute Of Medical Sciences, Dr Mustafa, Department of Cranio Facial Surgery, Yenepoya Medical College and Dr Jalaludin Akbar, Cancer Surgeon, Mangalore Institute of Oncology.

The first session was taken by Dr Manjunath Kamath on “Physiotherapy and women's health”. The second session was taken by Dr Mustafa on “Temporomandibular Disorders”. The third session was by Dr Jalaluddin Akbar on “Role of Physiotherapy in Oncology”.

Mangaluru, Aug 4: The Kasaragod district administration has decided to restore the e-pass system for daily commuters between Kasaragod and Mangaluru amid covid-19 crisis. 

As covid-19 cases began to increase in Dakshina Kannada, the Kasargod district administration had unilaterally newly introduced of daily pass system on July 6 for entry and exit from Talapady border. This had inconvenienced hundreds of employees, who visited Mangaluru daily to eke a living. 

The decision to resume the pass system was taken in a video conference of Kerala Revenue Minister Chandrasekharan with officials and elected representatives on August 3.

The minister said the Kasaragod district administration will resume issuing of passes for daily commuters between Kasaragod and Mangaluru. But they should undergo rapid antigen test for every week to renew their passes.

"Similarly, one-time interstate passes will be issued for those who want to take part in marriages, funeral and other functions in both states. Even they should undergo antigen test after returning from the functions,” the minister added.

As per the previous order, daily commuters, especially employees, had to stay in Mangaluru for 28 days before returning to Kasargod. Later, Kerala government relaxed rules on July 23 allowing only bank employees from Kasaragod to travel daily in their private vehicles to their workplace in Dakshina Kannada.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: A woman employee at the Vikasa Soudha, next to Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, was tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Hence the authorities sealed the Food Department offices, which was in the ground floor of the building.

Employees of Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha were shocked after learning that one of their colleagues tested positive for the dreaded killer coronavirus.

Mau/ Kalaburagi, Mar 26: Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday asked lockdown violators in Mau to do push-ups and squats as a punishment.
In Karnataka's Kalaburagi, police personnel punished the violators of the lockdown.
In his address to the nation on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country effective from midnight to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that "social distancing" is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
According to the Health Ministry, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in India reached 606, including 43 foreign nationals.
