Mangalore, February 8: The fallout of the porn-gate scandal in Karnataka Legislative Assembly involving three prominent ministers, was an outpouring of anger and indignation across the city of Mangalore, the home constituency of Krishna J Palemar.

The city's main protest hub opposite to the Office of Deputy Commissioner witnessed at least six protests from different groups throughout the day.

Various political parties like Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Social Democratic Party of India, and organisations like Youth Wing Jama'ath-e-Islami Hind and Students Federation of India staged demonstraions condemning the act of three ministers who caught watching porn videos during Assembly proceedings.

Though the tainted trio – Minister for Ecology, Environment and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi and Women and Child Welfare Minister C C Patil quit from their ministerial berths, the protesters demanded their immediate dismissal from the membership of Legislative Assembly.

KRV

The attempt made by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike to hold protest in front of the personal office of former minister J Krishna Palemar led to a verbal tiff between the police and activists.

Congress

In a novel protest, the district Congress Committee members brought a duplicate 'Vidhana Soudha' with effigies of tainted trio stuck on it. They performed the 'purification' of the Vidhana Saudha by pouring water over it, before kicking and burning the effigies.

Leading the protest, KPCC Secretary Ivan D Souza said that there was a need save the image of Karnataka, which was in danger because of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government.

“These corrupt and scandalous representatives should quit the politics permanently. Mere resigning from the ministerial berth is not enough”, he said.

He also said that the self-respect of the state has been hurt due to the scandalous act by ministers like Palemar.

He said that the entire government should be suspended over issue. “What culture does the ruling BJP promote?, he questioned.

SDPI

Holding their party flags the members of Social Democratic Party of India raised slogans against the BJP government and its tainted leaders.

District unit president of the party Abdul Jaleel, Secretary Akbar Ali, State Committee member Anwar Saadat were among the protesters.

They demanded the resignation of Chief Minister D V Sadanda Gowda led government and praised the media for bringing to light the “character” of BJP misters.

Addressing the protesters Mr Saadat said the people of the state finally have seen what the BJP party's true colours are.

“The BJP leaders have desecrated the Legislative Assembly, through their foul activities and habits”, he said.

CPIM/CITU

The protesters who gathered in front of DC office under the banner of CPIM and CITU went on to demand the police department to arrest the tainted MLAs for their 'lustful behaviour' during the Assembly proceedings.

“Their resignation is not sufficient. They deserve stringent legal action”, said CPIM leader B Madhava. Vasantha Achary, Sunil Kumar Bajal and rationalist Narendra Nayak were also among the protesters.

Bengaluru, Mar 6: The Karnataka Congress on Thursday termed the budget for fiscal 2020-21 presented by the B.S. Yediyurappa government as the "weakest ever state budget".

"This is the weakest budget ever that our state has had. There is no clear cut provision in the budget for industrial growth or to generate jobs. No clarity on department wise allocation," tweeted Congress.

Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said he did not expect such a bad budget which has discriminated on agriculture and education sectors.

"The state budget does not mention major irrigation projects like Kaveri valley and Krishna. No farmers loan waiver," noted Rao.

The opposition party has criticised the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the potential of Karnataka was not realized to generate revenue through this budget.

Assailing the additional tax on petrol and diesel, Congress said the development will lead to price rise and is a huge disappointment.

"People are reeling under high inflation and reduction in income. BJP has rubbed salt into injury by further increasing prices and providing no relief to common man," said the party.

Bhalki MLA and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Eshwar Bhimanna Khandre pointed out that the Centre gave the state only Rs 1,869 crore, despite a loss of Rs 35,160 crore in 2019.

Calling stamp duty reduction for housing within Rs 20 lakhs as an insult to people, Congress questioned the Chief Minister and BJP to first show where in Bengaluru does one get housing within Rs 20 lakh.

"This is mockery of people. No mention or allotment to universal housing programme that Congress government had delivered," claimed Congress.

Focusing on Karnataka capital Bengaluru, Congress slammed the BJP saying no proper revenue policy has been mooted.

"Last mile connectivity issue not addressed. Drinking water issue is not mentioned. No mention of peripheral ring road. No mention of Akrama-Sakrama and no thought process has gone in while planning Bengaluru," tweeted the party.

The party said Yediyurappa has admitted that there is a financial crisis in his budget speech.

"He admits Rs 8,883 crore aid has been cut, around Rs 11,000 crore state share from Centre has been cut. No additional allocation for flood relief. What is stopping him and 25 members of Parliament to question the centre," observed Congress.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah mocked Yediyurappa that though he calls himself a farmer''s son, he delivered an anti-farmer budget.

"No one will benefit from this budget. A complete failure to boost the economy, to realize inclusive development and to improve standard of living," he tweeted.

We respect ur decision sir.

But there are a lot of questions about it on people's mind.

We need to be updated about ur next plan of action.

Are u planning to approach the court for gaining the permission from the police, bcoz otherwise I don't think we will get the permission

Secondly, a few days back I wanted to contact Muslim central committee office to confirm if the protest Wil be there. I googled for the no, but the no. did not exist. Does that mean the Muslim central committee does not have an office or telephone no????

This only shows how organised we are.

Requesting Muslim central committee to get their house in order. Get more professional. Also consult people to utilise various platform to responsibly collect funds from so many ordinary bearys who want to donate money, but don't know whom to send it to.

We need an action committee to handle such situations. It must consist a battery of lawyers to fight the cases filed by the police.

If our leaders are old, they need to groom new leaders into the committee.

Moreover, it is important to question these so called leaders about their fecilitation program conducted for making kateel wen he won the election. Wat was the purpose of such fecilitation. Becoz I don't think he gives a damn when our community suffered. I question, whether all this is done in our name only to gain your contact and flourish ur business???

Never ever dare to do so in the name of Muslims
