Exporters' convention in city on February 13

Mangalore, February 8: Federation of Indian export organizations (Southern Region) set up by ministry of commerce, Government of India, will be organizing 'Karnataka: Export Vision-2020', an exporters' convention on February 13 from 10am to 6pm at Dr. T.M.A. Pai International Convention Centre in the city.

The convention will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Corporate affairs M Veerappa Moily, while State Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries Murugesh Nirani will preside over. Union Minister of State for commerce and Industries Anand Sharma will be the chief guest. Keynote address will be delivered by DGFT, Government of India Dr. Anup K Pujari.

Announcing about the convention at a press meet here on Wednesday, Mr Moily said that the meet would be held in association with FKCCI Bangalore, KCCI Mangalore, UCCI Udupi, NKCCI Karwar and all other trade bodies of state of Karnataka and the main feature of the meet is the collaboration of the Union Ministry for Corporate Affairs.

Chairman, FIEO (Southern region) convener, organizing committee Walter D'Souza said that the convention is the brain child of Minister and technical sessions in the convention would be on foreign trade policy, shipping, corporate affairs, banking and infrastructure.

Chairman, NMPT Mangalore Convention Promoter P Tamil Vanan, Coordinator, Organizing Committee K Thejomaya, President of UCCI, Udupi Prasad Raj Kanchan among others were present in the press meet.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 26: The Kerala Police on Wednesday arrested a man who had threatened people protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi on social media.

"The person was arrested by Agali police in Palakkad district for trying to instigate communal violence," the Police said.

On Tuesday, Kerala DGP Lokanath Behera had said that strict action will be taken against those who try to create any communal divide.

"Action will be taken against those who create or forward such messages that create communal tension through social media. All messages on social media are under police surveillance," he said.

Mangaluru, May 21: The third repatriation flight from Dubai to Mangaluru will operate on Saturday, May 23, confirmed union minister D V Sadananda Gowda. This will operate via Bengaluru.

The first and second direct repatriation flights from Dubai had landed at Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 and May 18. There were more than 175 passengers on board each of these flights.

On May 23, Air India flight (IX 0384) will take off at Dubai at 4:30 p.m. and land at Bengaluru at 9:50 p.m. It will again take off at 10:50 p.m. and land at Mangaluru at 11:45 p.m.

However, ministry of civil aviation sources said that no final decision has been taken about carrying passengers by these flights to Mangaluru.

Mangaluru, Jan 7: A ten-year-old boy who suffered severe injuries after drowning in Kadri temple pond died on Monday,

Police said that the deceased has been identified as Sandesh, resident of Athani taluk.

Sandesh drowned while taking a dip in a pond at Kadri Shree Manjunatha Temple on Sunday evening. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in the city, however, he died on Monday morning after he stopped responding to the treatment.
