Porngate: Police say case against Palemar, two others not maintainable

Bangalore, February 15: The police on Wednesday filed an affidavit before a local court stating a private complaint lodged on the recent porngate scandal involving three former BJP ministers including Krishina J Palemar inside the assembly was “not maintainable“.

The complaint filed by advocate Dharmapal Gowda was “not maintainable” as the complainant had not taken any permission from the Speaker of Legislative Assembly before filing it, Vidhana Soudha police said in their affidavit before the Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate court judge Kiran Kini.

Since the incident took place inside the Assembly hall and all the three former ministers are sitting MLAs, the permission of the Speaker is necessary and mandatory, they submitted.

Since the permission of the Speaker had not been sought, the complaint is “not maintainable”, they said.

On February 13, acting on a private complaint filed by Gowda, the ACMM court had ordered the sub—inspector of Vidhana Soudha (State Secretariat) Police Station to investigate and submit a report into the incident by February 27.

Speaker Bopaiah had last week served the notices to former ministers Lakshman Savadi, C C Patil and Krishna Palemar seeking their replies after they were caught last week on TV cameras watching a sleazy video on a mobile phone in the Assembly. The disgraced BJP members had sought one week's time to reply.

Bengaluru, May 6: Karnataka has reported 20 new cases of coronavirus taking total number of cases in the state to 693.

The state health department said in a bulletin on Wednesday that 20 new cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 in the state. "The total number of cases in the state is 693," it said.

The count includes 354 patients who have been discharged and 29 patients who succumbed to the disease.

Out of the remaining cases, 303 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals while six patients are in ICU. The bulletin has also reported one death due to non-COVID cause.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 49,391, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday morning.

This includes 33,514 active cases and 1,694 deaths due to infection so far.

A total of 14,182 persons have been cured and discharged so far, according to the Health Ministry. One patient has migrated.

Mangaluru, July 30: Under the KKMA Dream House (Home for Homeless) project, the Karnataka Branch of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association built two new houses at Nelyadi in Puttur taluk (house # 12 & 13) and handed over the keys on 29th July 2020 to the two widows as an Eid al-Adha gift for them.

Mr. S.M. Basha, president of Sea Food Buyers Association, Mangaluru, Mr. Sajid A.K, president of Highland Islamic Forum (HIF), Mangaluru, Mr. S.M. Farooq, president of KKMA Karnataka State Committee and Mr. Abubakker Thumbay, Vice President of Karnataka Branch Religious Affairs graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

Mr. S.M. Basha along with other dignitaries handed over the House # 12 key to a widow with three daughters at Bail house in Nelyadi and Mr. Sajid A.K. handed over the House # 13 key to another widow with two children at Alampadi in Nelyadi.
