Mangalore, February 28: The Department of Personnel and Trainings (DoPT), Government of India has awarded a Fellowship on Right to Information Act (RTI) to Harsha Raj Gatty, a city based RTI activist and freelance writer.
The program awarded by the DoPT, invites journalists, activists, government officials from all over the country to apply for this prestigious fellowship award, but selects only four candidates for the three month research program on RTI starting from of April 1 2012.
In this research programme, Mr Gatty will examine on the 'Lack of adequate capacity on the part of the marginalized groups to utilise the RTI effectively in Mangalore city and Dakshina Kannada district.
Mr Gatty, who is known for his RTI awareness programmes in the city, is also the founder and coordinator of Whitewhistle- a forum promoting awareness on RTI running since May 2nd 2010.
