Mangalore, March 2: N. Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, has urged the bureaucracy to play their role properly and try to infuse life into their work.
Speaking after inaugurating the two-day workshop on Karnataka Citizen's Charter Services Act ,2012 here at the Zilla Panchayat premises under the aegis of the Administration Training Institute (ATI), Mysore, Mr. Bhat said ,”every government employee must think how best he or she can do the job. It's time to contemplate and search within ourselves how we can improve.”
He lauded the role of the district administration in making the recently held National Youth Festival a grand success. “You must have the desire to succeed. Before the National Youth Festival , there were so many apprehensions , but ultimately the fest went on very well and the administration proved that they can deliver,” he said. “Dakshina Kannada is a peaceful place. However there are some drawbacks that needs to be tackled. Senior officers must guide the juniors,” he said.
Regretting that the youth lacked general knowledge, he said: “Recently I was interacting with students who had scored 98 % in PUC. They said the thing that we need most is common sense and general knowledge.”
Karnataka Citizen's Charter Services Act, which aims at controlling the time taken by officials in performing their duties towards the citizens, is being made mandatory from April 2 , 2012. The workshop is aimed at training Zilla Panchayath officials in performing their duties in a time-bound manner and making them more efficient.
Deputy Commissioner Dr N.S. Channappa Gowda said, the implementation of rules was important. “We must show full commitment towards work. Training without commitment is useless. We must change our mindset.”
CEO of Zilla Panchayath, K N Vijay Prakash said it was a matter of pride that Puttur taluk in Dakshina Kannada had selected as the pilot taluk for the implementation of the Act.
