Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences here on Friday, Mr. Hegde said society had been losing values and it could not be allowed to go down further. “See the incident that occurred in Bangalore (where advocates attacked media persons) today. This has ashamed not only the legal fraternity but the State as a whole. It has brought a bad name to the people of Karnataka,” he said.
Mr. Hegde said it was the responsibility of the graduates to uphold the dignity of the profession and also society. It was also necessary to have humanitarian consideration while discharging professional duty. Mr. Hegde asked the graduates to make use of the professional skills for improving the values of society.
Vice-Chancellor of Nitte University Shantharam Shetty asked the graduates to cultivate the habit of comforting patient.
“Your profession is more sacred than that of doctors. If at all a patient recovers it will be because of you,” he said.
