Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of a function in Mangalore on Sunday, Dr. Moily said that the BJP has been put to shame by its own leaders, which will act as a crucial hurting factor for it in the upcoming polls. “What happened at St Mary's Island in Udupi and on the floor of the House in the Assembly was shameful. People have now recognized BJP's true colours although it has made the ministers who watched porn clips resign. Some others are in jail and some are out on bail. BJP's internal conflicts and corruption will lead to its downfall”, Mr. Moily predicted.
He also said that while the central government has initiated a number of developmental projects for the benefit of the people, the state government has only disappointed them.
Even in the UP polls, Mr. Moily expressed confidence that Congress will reign supreme although exit polls conducted by TV channels suggest otherwise. “In UP, we have made lot of improvements. However, it is too early to predict. Let's wait and watch”, he said.
Assault on media persons condemnable
The former union law minister on the occasion condemned the attack on media persons by lawyers at the Bangalore Civil Court premises. “It shows the attitude of the state government. It was a total failure of intelligence. The courts and legal representatives must uphold law and order. If this could happen with media persons and police, what about the common man?” he questioned.
