Mangalore, March 20: Mangalore City Police Commissionerate and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Bangalore jointly organised a day-long training course for men in khaki on Drug law enforcement at the office of Commissionerate here on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the workshop, City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said city police were taking initiative to fight against smuggling and sale of drugs and the NCB would assist them to control the menace.
He further said the training will be useful to the police officers for the whole span of their duty with the department.
During course, NCB sleuths briefed police officials on international drug cartels, their operations and networks in India and on how to identify various drugs and trained police officers various methods to detect and seize drugs.
The workshop also discussed the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act. The various amendments made to the act and punishments in the act were also discussed in the workshop.
The workshop was attended by NCB Superintendent Pankaj Kumar Dvivedi and Venugopal Kuroop. DCPs Muthuraya and Dharmaiah were also present.
