Teachers should motivate students to be creative'

Mangalore, March 24: Teachers should motivate the students to be creative and innovative in academics and research, which will make India as a super power in the years to come, opined Registrar of Visvesaraya Technological University Belgaum Dr. S.A. Kori.

He was speaking as a chief guest on the annual day celebrations of Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Kenjar, held on Saturday at Loyola Hall, St. Aloysius College, here

On this occasion he was felicitated in recognition of his significant contributions and in appreciation of his achievements in the field of technology.

Founder and president A Shama Rao Foundation and Srinivas Group of Colleges, Mangalore Sri A Raghavendra Rao presided over the function. Principal of the college Dr K E Prakash presented the annual report of the academic and sports.

Chairman of Shree Devi Education Trust Sri A. Sadananda Shetty, Vice-chairman Sri Nidhish Shetty, Secretary Smt. Maina Shetty, Priyanka Shetty, Jagadish and Dr. B.R. Samaga were present on this occasion.

The students of the colleges presented a cultural programme following the function.

Hubballi, Jan 28: Charting that the Bharatiya Janata party’s Central leaders have not given a free-hand to the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa on the issue of expansion of Cabinet, former Chief minister and the Congress leader Siddaramaiah had opined that 'it has hampered the State’s development'.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, the Congress leader, alleged that 'by not giving permission to Yediyurappa to expand his ministry, it was evident that there is no any internal democracy in the Saffron Party'.

Mangaluru, Apr 4: About 20,000 quintal boiled rice has been distributed among the ration card holders through Public Distribution System, District-in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said here on Saturday.

As people in the district prefer boiled rice over white rice, the government has given approval for distributing boiled rice. From next month, only boiled rice will be distributed in the district at fair price shops.

In the last two days, rice has been distributed among 61,302 cardholders in the district.

Kasaragod, Apr 7: The new COVID Hospital at the Kasaragod Medical College has started functioning, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday.

The new administrative block of Kasaragod Medical College was converted into a COVID-19 Hospital for providing better treatment facilities to the coronavirus patients, the Chief Minister said while addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat.

Stating that the hospital was converted to a Corona Care Hospital in just four days, he said 200 beds and 10 ICU beds are now ready.
