Steven Rego to be conferred 'Pa Go award'

Mangalore March 24: Steven Rego, a journalist with Vijayakarnataka Kannada daily newspaper, has been chosen for 'Pa Go Award' for rural reporting.

According to press release issued by Srinivas Nayak Indaje, General Secretary of D K district Working Journalists Association, Mr Rego's report titled “Nandini Mayavaguva Munna...” published on October 31, 2011, got selected for the award.

The award will be presented by Tulu Sahithya Academy President Umanath Kotian on March 26 Monday at Press Club here.

The award consists of Rs 5001, a citation and a memento. The award is sponsored by Dr Virendra Hegde, Dharmadhikari Dharmastala.

Mangaluru, Jan 18: The Dakshina Kannada District Karavali Utsava Samiti has chosen senior Journalist and Assistant Editor on Udayavani Daily Manohar Prasad for the Karavali Gaurava Prashasti 2019-20.

The award will be presented to Manohar Prasad in recognition of his contribution in the field of Journalism.

He will be given the award during the valedictory of the Karavali Utsav at Panambur beach on January 19.

Udupi, July 20: A youth, who was under depression after his business came to a halt due to lockdown, has killed self in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district. 

The deceased has been identified as Nitish Shetty (31), son of Prabhakar Shetty, a resident of Giliyaru in Kota area of Kundapura. 

Shetty was running a secondhand car business in Bengaluru. The business had completely stopped due to covid-19 lockdown. 

After returning to his hometown, he could not find any other job. Hence he was under depression. Hence on July 18 he handed himself to death in his house, police said. 

A case has been registered at jurisdictional Kota police station.

Udupi, Jan 5: The district administration has identified 460 beneficiaries who will be allotted flats at Herga under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, informed MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday he said the Udupi Municipal Council will construct the apartments in the 8.22 acres of land earmarked for the purpose at Herga. The flats will be ready before April 2021.
