Mangalore, March 30: While in service, the position you hold is not important. What you do for the society is, said Dr. N S Channappa Gowda, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada district.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Madhava Shenoy Memorial State Level Conference on 'Human Resource: Values and Propositions' at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, on Friday.
Stating that human resource values mainly depend on integrity, Mr. Gowda said that efforts have to be made to create such an environment and society. Emphasizing the importance of service, he quoted Gandhiji and said that the rich can purchase service but when service is rendered to the poor, one gets prayers in return which are far more valuable.
Mr. Gowda also threw light on the human resource utilization concept in countries like Singapore. “Their idea is to work continuously. We too have to build a society on those lines to achieve progress”, he said.
The workshop is a two-day workshop and will continue on Saturday too.
