Kochi: The Kochi CBI court has given life sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 to the seven accused, including CPM local leader Sudhakaran Master, for the murder of Youth Congress leader Abdul Jabbar, 26. The court also directed that the accused be sentenced strictly for 14 years. All the accused are CPM activists.

The prosecution claimed that the accused should have been given death sentences but was only sentenced for 14 years. Earlier, the court had acquitted five in the case.
The case, which was probed by the police first, was handed over to the CBI as per HC order one and half years back. The accused were Sudhakaran Master, Moitheen Kunji, Perla Abdullah Kunji, Ravi, Baloor Abdul Basheer, Basheer and Yashwanth Kumar.
Jabbar was killed in November 3, 2009 when he was traveling in a car along with his friend at 10. 45 pm. Jabbar was driving the car and his friend fled the scene when Jabbar was attacked. Jabbar was acting as Youth Congress Perla town secretary and Congress Enmakaje panchayat third ward president.a
