Flash mob in City Center promotes Yogathon

citycentreMangalore, April 4: The graduates of YES!+ (Youth empowerment and skills workshop) have found an innovative way to make Yoga cool. About sixty of them performed a flash mob in the city center mall to some very amazing tracks. The energy was really high all over the place.

The mall got totally packed with visitors who hooted and cheered to the group of youth who gave such a blast of a performance.

The mob danced to some of the funkiest beats and fusion tracks for 8 minutes to the stunned crowd who were not willing to leave the place. At the end of the Dance the students performed suryanamaskars.

The event was organized to promote Yogathon, an initiative of the Art of Living Foundation to make Yoga a part of the daily life of people.

Yoganthan will be conducted in city on April 7 which happens to be the world health day. It will be an entree free event and people will be taught Suryanamaskaras and will be given a chance to do as many numbers of rounds as they can. All the participants will be given the spirit of Yoga certificate.

There will be a challenge event, for those who can finish 108 rounds. They will be given a special gold certificate.

According to organisers, already 2020 events have been finalized in different locations across India, in which about 12.5 lakh people have registered.

In mangalore the event is being organized in three different places. In Gandhi Park, Mannagudda from 6:00 am to 7:30 am and from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. At Radhakrishna Madir, near Urwa Marigudi Temple from 6:00 am to 7:30 am and from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. And Theosophical Society Hall, Near PVS Circle from 6:30 am to 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to 6:30pm.

Mangaluru, Jul 19: Two flights with 346 stranded Kannadigas from Sharjah and Dammam landed at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) on Saturday night.

MIA officials said on Sunday that the chartered flight from Dammam landed with 178 stranded people, while an Air India flight from Sharjah landed with 168 stranded passengers under the 'Vande Bharat Mission'.

All the passengers on their arrival underwent health checkup and were sent for seven days institutional quarantine. They will undergo swab tests during the quarantine period, health officials said.

Bengaluru, Apr 14: Karnataka Labour Department has issued an order instructing public and private establishments not to cut salaries or lay off employees during the lockdown imposed to counter Coronavirus.

In view of Covid-19, there may be incidents where services of employees or workers may be dispensed with on the pretext of the disease or employees may be forced to go on leave without pay, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said.

Legal action will be initiated if any establishment violates this advisory, Labour Department Secretary P Manivannan said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Bengaluru, Mar 29: Seven new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Karnataka since Saturday 5 pm to 2 pm on Sunday.

The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 83, out of which five have been cured/discharged and three have lost their lives, according to the Karnataka Health Department.

A total of 979 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.
