Mangalore, April 4: Tension gripped a private management college in the city after three seniors along with their friends allegedly ragged and badly battered their juniors near Nanthur junction on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 9:00 pm when Robin, Saby Verghese, Majo John, who are studying first year MBA at AJ Institute of Management were returning to their room after having lunch at a hotel in Kankanady. Their roommate, a student of interior designing at another city based private institute was also present with them.
It is learnt that the three students of second year MBA at AJ Institute of Management along with their friends surrounded the four students in front of a restaurant in Nanthur. The latter, who were on their way to their room had just parked their motorbikes to have some drinks.
“We did not do anything wrong. We had just bought some drinks. Three of our seniors Harikshna, Vipin Chandar and Sunil along with their friends surrounded us outside the restaurant, started abusing and thrashed badly”, said Robin, who sustained severe injuries on his head.
“They beat all of us without any provocation. But, Robin sustained severe injuries as he was thrown into a ditch”, said the roommate, a student of interior designing, on condition of anonymity.
MCC Corporator Diwakar, who was travelling along the way with his friends, noticed Robin and admitted him to AJ Hospital immediately.
