Mangalore, April 11: 'Youth Against Dowry', an organization formed by youth of coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi to fight against the evil practice of dowry existing in the Muslim community, will hold a signature campaign on April 13 in the city.
Addressing media persons at the Press Club in Mangalore, Dr. Farhan Muhammad, President, Youth Against Dowry, DK and Udupi, said that the campaign will be held after Friday prayers outside Eidgah Mosque at Bawtegudde in the city.
A public programme will also be held on the occasion. In the days to come, the organization plans to reach out to every 'mohalla' and street of the region and create awareness about the evils of dowry among youth.
The organization intends to involve religious leaders and Ulamas in their campaign. An appeal to make the society dowry-free will also be made through the Qazi in all mosques too. The struggle will go on until every 'Jamaath' in the region becomes dowry free, Dr. Farhan said.
