
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Yogish Bhat said that already finance sanctions for the construction projects of a Rangamandira, Ambedkar Bhavana and synthetic track at Mangala Stadium in the city have been made by the government. “It would be nice if the Tulu Bhavana comes up within a year, before Akshaya Tritiya”, he said.
Mr. Bhat also announced that Rs 10 lakhs would be given to the project from the MLA fund.
Umanath Kotian, President, Tulu Sahitya Academy, thanked his predecessors for their efforts in envisaging and materializing of the concept of Tulu Bhavana. “Let us hope that it doesn't remain a mere structure of concrete and walls, but act as a platform for Tulu literature and culture to flourish”, he said.
The Tulu Bhavana will come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 6 crore. The first floor will have a cultural hall while the second floor will house a museum and a guest room too, Mr. Kotian informed.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Amitha Kala, Deputy Mayor, Vaman Nandavara, Former President of the Academy, Chandrahas Rai, Registrar of the Academy, were present among others.
