Mangalore, April 26: Dr Augustine Pamplany, Director, Institute of Science and Religion, said that medical profession is a cosmic profession and the job of the medical professionals is nothing but a cosmic rituals.
He was delivering a talk on 'Interfacing Science, Religion and Bioethics' organized by the Unesco Chair in Bioethics South India Unit at Father Muller Medical College on Wednesday.
Defining the medical field and interlinking it with religion and spirituality, he said the medicos that they are shepherd of cosmos and treatment is a process where the patient completely surrenders himself to the doctor without raising any objections or questions.
“We should revisit the human body from two perspectives, one is through the scientific perspective and another is through the religion perspective. There have been many incidents where the human body has posed questions to the existing science theories. At times the science theories too have become a mystery.” He said.
The talk was followed by a discussion which was chaired by Father Muller Medical College Community Medicine Professor Dr R P Pai.
