Kasargod, April 27: In an apparent bid to foment communal tension in the town, miscreants pelted stones at two places of worship and two houses in near here in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Two places of worship at Uliyathadukka and Mogral Puthur came under attack while a Hundi box placed on the roadside at Adukathbayal was found damaged on, police sources said.
The houses which came under attack were located at Uliyathadukka. The police intensified patrolling in the areas.
Belagavi, Jul 19: In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman used a pushcart to take the body of her dead husband to the crematorium after she allegedly did not receive any help from relatives who suspected him to have died of Covid.
The woman and her son were seen pushing the body in the Athani thaluk of Belagavi.
The man had died two days ago at his residence and no family member apart from the close members attended the last rites due to the fear that he was COVID-19 positive.
It was later found that the deceased person was COVID-19 negative.
A total of 3,693 new COVID-19 positive cases and 115 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Friday, said the state health department.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state is presently at 55,115, including 33,205 active cases. While there are 20,757 recoveries, the death toll stands at 1,147.
Mangaluru, Mar 30: Police on Monday registered a case against a man, who, after return from Dubai, had failed to adhere to lockdown guidelines of house quarantine.
The case was filed by Assistant Commissioner, Puttur, Dr Yathish Ullal.
The man, who returned from Dubai on March 21, had a seal on his hand and was supposed to stay at home for 14 days, but was seen roaming around the city, hence he was taken into custody and a case registered.
Mangaluru, May 21: The coastal district of Dakshina Kannada today recorded six fresh covid-19 positive cases. With this the total cases reported in the district so far rose to 61.
It is learnt that all the six new covid-19 patients are those who had returned to Mangaluru from Dubai on May 18.
Al the six patients are male. Among them two people aged 44 years and three others aged 35, 42, 60 are residents of Dakshina Kannada. Another one is 29-year-old from Kalaburagi.
They were under institutional quarantine after their return. After their throat swab tests confirmed the disease, they were shifted to covid-19 hospital in the city.
