Shortage of auto LPG hits city

Mangalore, May 3: There were long queues of autorickshaws in front of petrol stations waiting to fill auto LPG in the city on Thursday.

At one petrol station in Balmatta, the queue of autorickshaws was very long in the morning. In the afternoon, there were six to eight autorickshaws in the queue.

Surekha, manager and dealer for HP station at Balmatta, informed that a tanker from Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) provided 12 tonnes (21,000 l) of auto LPG every evening. She said that on Tuesday, the bunk did not get any supply. There are three points in the city that supply auto LPG; in Balmatta, Capitanio, and near SCS Hospital.

Muhammad, who was in the queue at Balmatta, said that for the last three days, he had been struggling for auto LPG. “If it goes empty, we can't earn that day,” he said. Mohammad Irfan said that auto LPG was not being provided from MRPL.

Satish N. Kamath, Member, Executive Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Petroleum Dealers' Association, said: “There was some panic for the last three or four days when pumps went dry, but things were fine now.” He said the long queues were a result of a backlog, because of the shutdown of MRPL. “By the weekend, everything should be normal,” he said.

Belgaum, Jan 1: Police detained a group of around eight people who were allegedly trying to hoist 'Uttara Karnataka flag' in Hire Bagewadi area here on Wednesday.

This comes amid tensions between Karnataka and neighbouring Maharashtra over the border issue with protests on both sides, which have also led to the cancellation of bus services between the two states.

Protesters in Belagavi burnt an effigy of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, following which Shiv Sena workers had launched a protest near the Kolhapur bus stand on Sunday, and burnt an effigy of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

The long-standing border dispute between the two states over is pending before the Supreme Court for several years.

On December 7, Thackeray had chaired a high-level meeting over the border dispute between two states. It was decided in the meeting that attempts will be made to get fast track hearing in Supreme Court on the issue.

This new feature activates refunds and credits the customer's source account across payment methods such as credit card, net banking, and UPI within a minute of initiation.

India is one of the fastest-growing online retail markets today. About 71 per cent of internet users in the country purchase products online. Today, the refund process has two major pain points for both the end customer and the business.

Udupi, May 29: As many as 15 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in Udupi district today. 

11 among the new 15 covid-19 patients are males and four are females. The patients also include two children aged 6 and 7.

All of them are said to be Maharashtra returnees. 

With this, the total confirmed covid-19 cases in the district mounted to 164.
