Mangalore, May 15: A Government College being built on funds completely donated by Dayananda Pai, Managing Director of Century Group, is slated to open shortly, Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Assembly said.
Speaking to mediapersons at the sidelines of a programme held at Government First Grade College, Car Street, at the very campus where the building is being built, Mr. Bhat said that not a single paisa had been spent by the government for the project.
“The total estimated cost of the building is Rs. 4 crore. The entire amount is being donated by Dayananda Pai. Construction work worth Rs. 2 crore is expected to be finished by July and we are looking to open a part of the building from this academic year itself. The other portion will be completed later on”, Mr. Bhat said.
The total area of the building being built is about 16,000 square feet. 24 rooms will come up, Mr. Bhat informed.
The College is likely to be named after Mr. Pai, Mr. Bhat revealed on the occasion.
