SSLC 2012 Results Out: Udupi bags first place; girls outshine boys

Mangalore, May 17: It is that time of the year again, when anxiety fills the air. The state has registered 76.13 percent success in SSLC results.

Announcing the results at a press conference here, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said girls with rural girls taking the lead outshone boys in overall pass percentage, boasting a figure of 81.16% to the 71.73% of boys.

Coastal district of Udupi, which had slipped to sixth place in the previous year, has bagged first place this year. As many as 47 schools in the state have registered zero percent result.

The results have already been put online. Around 8.5 lakh students appeared for the SSLC examination.

The result are available on the following websites:www.examresults.net, www.karnatakaeducation.net, http://results.KarnatakaEducation.net.

Those without access to the online medium could check their results via their cell phone, too.

Students can also access their results via SMS by sending RESULT KAR12 along with their registration number to 56263. Example: RESULT KAR12 222222.

Students can also get their SSLC result through email by getting themeselves registered at www.examresults.net.

BSNL (Karnataka circle) will also provide the result through integrated voice response system (IVRS) to its landline, CDMA and mobile customers.

Landline, CDMA and mobile customers can get SSLC results by dialing 1255225 from anywhere in Karnataka, a BSNL press release said on Wednesday.

Landline and CDMA customers would be charged Re 1 per 20 seconds and mobile customers Rs 5 per minute, the release added.

The pre-university (PU) examination results will be announced on May 23. About six lakh students appeared for the PU examination in 2012.

Mangaluru, Jan 29: The police have registered a suo motu case against some of the youths who raised life threat slogans against former Karnataka Minister and Congress MLA UT Khader during the pro-Citizenship Amendment Act rally here on January 27.

A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed the youths belonging to BJP and other saffron outfits raising slogans that they will “cut off his limbs and chop off his head if necessary” during the rally organised by the BJP in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act on Monday.

Though Mr Khader did not file a complaint, the Congress party had urged the police to register a suo motu case.

Bagalkote, Jan 27: The bank of Krishna River in front of Sangamantha Temple at Koodalasangama in Karnataka today witnessed the launch of women’s indefinite strike demanding liquor ban in the state.

Thousands of women from various parts of Karnataka have taken part in the strike being organised under the banner of 'Karnataka Madya Nisheda Andolana'.

The strike was launched to draw the attention of the state government to press for a complete ban on the sale of liquor across the state.

About 50 various organizations and religious pontiffs have extended their support for the strike. Food is being cooked on the bank of the river for the agitating women.

The women from Chikmagalur, Tumakuru, Raichur and Ballari districts are taking part in it.

Puttur, Apr 6: A person reportedly has been booked for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against minority community on social media platforms.

The accused is reported to be a resident of Belandur village of Puttur Taluk.
The case has been registered at Bellare Police Station.

According to the reports, Kusumadhara had posted derogatory remarks about the faith and minority community. A complaint in this regard was filed by Savanur SDPI member Mohammed Saheer at Bellare Police Station, adding that his remarks in the post would create divide and communal disturbance in the society.
