BJP Yuva Morcha gears up for massive youth convention

Mangalore, May 17: BJP Yuva Morcha will hold a massive 'Youth Awareness Convention' at Nehru Maidan on May 22 to familiarize the youth of Karnataka with the social and political problems of the country said Sunil Kumar, President, State BJP Yuva Morcha.

Addressing media persons at a press conference held at the district party office in Mangalore on Thursday, Mr. Kumar said that about 1 lakh youth are expected to participate in the event.

The aim of the convention is to create awareness among youth regarding issues such as the union government's stand on Chinese military threat, terrorism, internal security, corruption, confusion about the competency of the Indian army, growing naxalism in the state etc.

Stating that China is “a bigger threat than Pakistan”, Mr. Kumar said that the nation is up against a situation where it can be attacked by China from across the border any time.

On growing naxalism in the region, he said that Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have also become prone to naxal activities. “Red terrorists are increasing in Karnataka. Naxal ideology is being propagated in college campuses of our region”, he said.

Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anurag Thakur, National President, BJP Yuva Morcha, Navjot Singh Siddhu, BJP MP, have been invited to the event besides state party leaders such as D V Sadananda Gowda, Chief Minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, Former Chief Minister, Ananth Kumar, General Secretary, BJP, and K S Eshwarappa, State President, BJP, Mr. Kumar informed.

Mangaluru, Apr 21: An elderly woman from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district has been diagnosed with covid-19, a deadly disease caused by coronavirus.

The state health and family welfare department, in its bulletin released on Tuesday morning, confirmed  that 67-year old woman suffering from covid-19.

The woman is said to be a neighbour of the woman from who died last Friday after being infected with coronavirus.

It is suspected that the virus reached elderly woman's body as she was in touch with the deceased.

The woman was admitted to Covid - 19 Hospital, Mangaluru, on the April 18 after she developed breathing problem. It is learnt that she is responding to the treatment

Mangaluru, Mar 24: With four new coronavirus positive cases reported, surveillance against people coming out of their houses and wandering around in public places has been intensified in the coastal city of Mangaluru today.

With today's addition, the total number of positive cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to five in Mangaluru.

All the four new patients are said to be Keralites. Among them three are undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital and another one in KMC Hospital.

There will be total restriction in place for the public to step out of their houses. Those who are found outside on the streets would be arrested, caution the district authorities.

Mangaluru, May 8: Dr Arathi Krishna, former deputy chairman of Karnataka NRI Forum, today called on Karnataka chief secretary Vijaya Bhaskar and urged him to exert pressure on the Centre through chief minister to expedite evacuation of Kannadigas stuck in Saudi Arabia amidst covid-19 lockdown. 

She also conveyed the message from labourers in Gulf countries requesting for free quarantine facility upon their arrival. Positively responding to the demand, Mr Bhaskar said that free quarantine facility will be arranged at BSF base in Bengaluru apart from paid quarantine facility in different hotels and guest houses.

Dr Arathi Krishna told coastaldigest.com that she also spoke to the officials in-charge of Gulf in the Ministry of External Affairs  and requested them to take necessary steps to add more special flights from Gulf countries to Karnataka. 

The officials have promised to consider operating flight from Riyadh to Mangaluru via Dammam in the second wave of evacuation, the schedule of which is expected to be announced in a few days, she said.
