Dist BJP appeals people to support 'Bharat bundh' on May 31

Mangalore, May 28: The district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appealed to the people of Dakshina Kannada to support the nationwide bundh against petrol price hike brought about by the central government.

Addresing mediapersons at a press meet held at the district party office in Mangalore on Monday, Mr. Kottary said that people are already reeling under price rise of commodities. In the backdrop of fall in rupee in the international market, the central government should have taken appropriate measures without burdening the common man. But it has acted against the interest of the country, Mr. Kottary said.

In condemnation of the hike, people of Dakshina Kannada must support the nationwide bundh on May 31, he said.

Admitting that the day is an auspicious one and many programmes and weddings have been scheduled on the day, Mr. Kottary appealed to the people to support the bundh as much as possible.

Mangaluru, Jun 28: In an attempt to curb fast spreading Coronavirus and to bring discipline among the public to follow the guidelines and also as it was found difficult to control the visitors, the City Corporation Mayor Diwakar has ordered closure of the office for one week with immediate effect from Monday.

Public will be banned from entering the MCC building for a period of one week from Monday, he said.

In a circular the Mayor has requested the public to co-operate and help the administration to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

However, a help desk will be set up outside the MCC building where people can submit their applications and requests.

Bengaluru, May 3: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday said that his government has allowed labourers to travel to their hometowns in the state on KSRTC buses free of charge for three days starting on Sunday.

"Labourers have been allowed to travel in KSRTC buses free of charge from the district centres and capital Bengaluru to their hometowns in Karnataka for three days from today," Yediyurappa said.

"The government will bear the cost of travel. The concern is that a large number of labourers should not assemble at any bus stop," he added.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on May 1, issued an order to extend the ongoing lockdown by two more weeks from May 4 and also allowed the movement of migrant workers, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places, by special trains.

New Delhi, May 20: In further relaxation of lockdown rules, domestic flights will begin operations from May 25 in a calibrated manner. Currently, only cargo and evacuation flight services are allowed.

The nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus is in place till May 31. However, certain relaxations have been allowed.

All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from next week, tweeted civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The standard operating procedures for passenger movement will be separately issued by the ministry, said the minister.
