Mangalore, Jun 6: A ghastly road accident that left a motorcyclist dead on Wednesday evening in the city laid bare the carelessness of police.
The rider who was thrown onto the road and died on spot, after being hit by a speding tipper, was left to lie in the middle of the road in front of Abharan Jewellers near Kadri for nearly half an hour.
Local residents who stood gazing at the tragic the scene complained that it took more than 20 minutes for police to reach the spot. But, even after inquiring the eyewitnesses for a few minutes the police did not touch the body.
Angered by the carelessness of the police, the local mob took them to task.
Finally the victim's kin, who reached the spot, lifted the body along with the help of local residents. It took at least half an hour for ambulance to reach the spot.
The mud-laden tipper was moving from Kankanady to Kottara. Its driver was arrested by the police.
