Kasargod, June 7: A 12-year-old Kerala boy sang in the choir at the thanksgiving service during the Queen's diamond jubilee celebrations in London.
Kevin John was part of the Jubilee Choir made of 40 specially selected choristers from across the UK aged between 11 and 13.
John's parents Saro and John (Jibu) are from Pathanamthitta in Kerala.
His grandparents had flown in from Kerala to see him sing in front of the Queen at St. Paul's Cathedral.
Queen Elizabeth II, Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip and members of the royal family attended the National Service.
The service was conducted by the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral Very Reverend David Ison and the Archbishop Rowan Williams of Canterbury preached.
Said to be the largest live public event ever held, the celebrations included 11 kilometers long flotilla on Thames River, about 20,000 participants on the water on 1,000 vessels including Royal College of Music Chamber Choir, 50 large viewing screens in London and a million spectators with a global audience in billions.
Large parts of Central London riverside and bridges were pedestrianized for this event, described as "the biggest street and river party in the nation's history."
The London Philharmonic Orchestra played pieces relevant to buildings it passed en route on river, including the theme music to the James Bond films.
Bollywood tunes and traditional Indian melodies also added color to the celebrations.
