Mangalore, June 9: As per the norms laid down by the National Early Childhood Care and Education policy (ECCE) of central government, in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework, a play based approach has to be adopted for children which has been for long neglected by teaching authorities said Renny D'Souza, Director, Padi VALORADE.
He was speaking at a discussion programme on National Early Childhood Care and Education policy (ECCE) organized by Shikshana Sampanmoola Kendragala Okkuta, DK, in Mangalore on Saturday.
Mr. D'Souza said that as per the ECCE, the primary language of interaction for teaching that should be adopted must be the mother tongue of the child. However, given the young child's ability to learn many languages, exposure to national and regional languages can be given including exploring English in oral form as required.
Dr. William D'Silva, Social Scientist, and Vishalaxmi, Secretary, District Anganavadi Workers' Association, also spoke.
