Jayaprakash Hegde's car meets with accident; No one injured

Mangalore, June 10: The vehicle in which Jayaprakash Hegde, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, was traveling met with an accident near Hariharapura of Chikmagalur on Sunday.

Speaking to Coastaldigest.com, N Shashi Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Chikmagalur District, said that the accident took place at about 11 am when Mr. Hedge was on his way to attend a Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting at Balehonnoor.

Mr. Hegde was traveling to Balehonnoor from Kundapura when his Innova car hit a Trax vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction.

No one was injured in the accident and an alternate vehicle was arranged for Mr. Hegde who later attended the meet, the SP said.

Hassan, Mar 14: Karnataka Health Department officials took help of the Police to get a man, who returned from pilgrimage to Mecca (Saudi Arabia), admitted to hospital as he refused to undergo clinical tests for suspected Coronavirus, official sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, a family from Arkalgud taluk, who was on a pilgrimage to Mecca and Madina, returned on March 5 and the woman from the family developed fever and symptoms of flu.

On Friday evening, in view of the Coronavirus scare, a team of Health Department officials visited their house and directed them to get admitted to a hospital in Hassan for treatment.

Bengaluru, Jul 5: A total number of 32 SSLC students, who took exams between June 25 and July 3 have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Eighty other students are in home quarantine. As per a press release from the Karnataka government here as of July 3, more than 7.60 lakh students wrote the exam, with 14,745 absentees. The report from the government stated that 3,911 students did not attend the exams as they were in a containment zone. A total of 863 students had not attended the exams as they were unwell.

Last week, a Class 10 student from Hassan had tested coronavirus positive. The student reportedly wrote an exam on June 25, despite having taken the coronavirus test. His positive result reportedly came shortly after he finished writing the exam.

Bengaluru, May 1: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on the occasion of International Labour Day has appealed to migrant workers in the state to stay back and co-operate with it in resuming economic activities once the Central government issues further directions.

"It is my sincere request to all the migrant workers to stay back in the state and co-operate with us to resume the economic activities once we receive directions from Union Government," Yediyurappa said in a release issued by the CMO.

"COVID-19 situation in India is much better than other countries because of people's cooperation.

We intend to resume economic activities soon. The government has already held a meeting with representatives of associations of commerce and industry in this regard. The government has also appealed to the employers to protect the interest of their workers and pay salaries," he added.

The ongoing nationwide lockdown, imposed to contain the coronavirus spread, is scheduled to end on May 3.
