Discussion on Malpe rave party on Tuesday'

Puttur, June 11: Chief Minister D V Sadanada Gowda has said that the discussion on the much awaited report on Spring Zouk, a government sponsored rave party held at St Mary's island in Malpe would be held on Tuesday.

Speaking after exercising franchise for Legislative Council elections at Puttur on Sunday, he said that the the Mysore Regional Commissioner's report on Spring Zouk has already been received by the government.

“I have not read the report. The discussion on the report will be held on Tuesday,” he said.

Mr Gowda said that the State has inked agreements promising private investment of about Rs 450 crore, at Global Investors Meet (GIM), to promote tourism in Dakshina Kannada.

He said that the GIM was not restricted to one department or Bangalore alone. The industries will come up in tier-II cities. “I have entrusted the responsibility to co-ordinate with the industries in Tier-II cities, to the DCs of respective districts,” he said.

“I am the president of Empowerment Committee. I have taken part in two meetings. If any investor feels that the officials are not responding to him, then he can contact my office directly.

Arrangement has been made to provide land, electricity and water to the investors within a day of the proposal. After taking part in the empowerment committee meeting, the investor can go back home with the government order on the following day,” he asserted.

Setting up of industries alone will be of no use to the state. Along with industries, the youth should get employment. There is a need to implement Sarojini Mahishi report totally, he said.

Endosulfan victims centre

The CM said the government is planning to set up endosulfan victims centre near Uppinangady. Another day care centre will be set up near Alankaru. Basic infrastruture facilities will be provided to Endosulfan victims day care centre at Kokkada.

Thieves broke into an MSIL liquor outlet at Kuthar Nityanandanagara on the outskirts of Mangaluru and decamped with liquor worth Rs 1 lakh. The incident came to light on Friday morning. 

The outlet belongs to Purushotham Pilar. 

Before committing the crime, the thieves had hung a cloth in front of the shop shutter of the outlet to ensure that no one could notice the crime. They also stole DVR of the CCTV the was installed. 

On noticing that outlet was open, many people had even come to purchase liquor. The police took all those who had visited the outlet to purchase to the task and chased them away.

The thieves also stole 10 packets of cigarettes from a paan shop situated adjacent to the MSIL outlet.

Bengaluru, Apr 20: A ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura on Sunday allegedly over shifting of suspected COVID-19 persons to quarantine facility by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials.

The incident occurred in the late evening at Padarayanapura which is recognized as a 'Red Zone' when BBMP officials went to bring 15 secondary contacts of corona positive patients.

However, some people and youth created ruckus and broke the barricade and removed police post which was stalled in the area.

Soon after receiving the information, Bengaluru South Deputy Commissioner of Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

"Lockdown continues, please remain indoors.Tomorrow will be as it was till today. We Understand your situation and appreciate your cooperation," tweeted Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, Bhaskar Rao.

In Karnataka, 384 people have detected positive for COVID-19, of which 14 people have succumbed to the infection, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Udupi, Jan 11: A case has been registered against Pune Billava president on the charges of issuing life threats to former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake and Dinesh Amin Mattu at the Udupi Town Police station, police sources said on Saturday.

Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake along with like-minded Billawa organisations and the Udupi Muslim Federation jointly scheduled an inter-religious Billawa – Muslims Harmony meet on January 11, at the Town Hall.

Journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu was the speaker and Vinay Kumar Sorake was to preside over the programme.
