Panaji, June 13: A day after Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar warned the moral police and fundamentalists of breaking their hands, Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik has said that his followers would not disturb the law and order in the state.

Addressing a media conference at Ramnthi in Ponda taluk on Tuesday, Mr Muthalik said that he would open officially open the first branch of Sena in Gown in next three months on the demand of the Goans. “I am going to invite the CM Manohar Parrikar himself to inaugurate the branch”, he said.

He was obviously reacting to statement of the CM warning fundamentalist elements against taking law into their own hands in Goa. In fact, Parrikar's warning was in response to Mutalik's statement two days ago, on the sidelines of the ongoing All India Hindu convention at Ramnathi, that through the Sena, he would try to curb the western culture of night club and pubs.

Angrily reacting, chief minister said if anyone has any grouse against pubs and clubs, they can lodge their complaints with the police or even with him. But any attempt to take the law into one's hands will be dealt with severely, the chief minister said.

On Tuesday, Muthalik said he is going ahead with his plans to set up shop in Goa but the tone of his language was soft. "We will do whatever we have to, within the framework of law", he declared.

He also stated that they would not attack night clubs or anything western but would enquire and file complaints with the police if they find illegal pubs and night clubs functioning in the state. "Surely, we are not going to adopt an aggressive stand", he clarified.
