Mangalore, Jun 13: 'Aasegala Santheyalli' (In the Market of Desires), a Kannada novel by M C Jayappa was released at Pathrika Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Speaking after releasing the novel, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, Programme Executive, Aakashavani, Mangalore, laid emphasis on the need of a new literary movement to give a new ray of hope for the humanity in the current juncture.
He said that during the pre-independence period a sense of unity had prevailed in all fields of human life including literature, politics and religion. However now we can see only divisions in all those fields. “As a result the literary works have turned to be isolated islands”, he opined.
The disappearance of the atmosphere of harmony and unity has led to anarchy everywhere, he pointed out.
Admiring the effort of Mr Jayappa, the Assistant Librarian at the Mangalore University Library, in bringing out a creative novel, Mr Perla said that 'In the Market of Desires' could be seen as a metaphor for the current age of materialistic culture and desires.
Speaking about the novel, Jithu Nidle from Shimoga said that 'In the Market of Desires,' unveils an honest effort to understand the facts of life by rotating around the concept of love.
Dr Prakash Chandra Shishila of Government First Grade College, Car Street, compered the programme. Author Jayappa proposed vote of thanks.
