Aloysius D'souza elected president of Mangalore Headmasters and Principal Association

Mangalore, June 17: Aloysius D'souza, Headmaster, Rosario High School, has been unanimously elected as the new president of Mangalore Headmasters and Principal Association for the year 2012-13.

Mr D'Souza, who had received District Best Teacher Award in 2008, has 27 years of teaching experience.

The general body meeting of the Association was attended by 189 member schools of Mangalore city range, Mangalore Taluk range and Moodabidiri Taluk. Usha Ballal, headmistress of Sri Ramakrishna High School, presided over the meeting.

The other newly elected office bearers are: Sadashiva Shetty, Headmaster Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa High School Belwe, Moodbidiri (Vice President); Fr Lawerence D'Souza Headmaster, Cascia High School, Mangalore (Secretary and Treasurer) and MH Malar, Headmaster, Tippu Sultan High School, Ullal, Mangalore was elected as the assistant secretary.

The association's Executive Committee members are: Usha Ballal, immediate Past President and Headmistress of Sri Ramakrishna High School, Mangalore; N. Ismail, Principal, Badria College Mangalore, Sr. Cicilia Mendonca, Headmistress, Sacred Heart High School Kulashekar, Gajanana Bhat, Headmaster, Raj Academy English Medium High School Ganjimutt, Ashok Shetty, Headmaster, Mangala Jyothi Vamanjoor, Umesh Karkera, Principal, Sri Narayana Guru PU College Katipalla, B Padmavathi, Headmistress, BM High School Ullal, Kavitha, Headmistress. Chinmaya High School Mangalore, Anitha Kumari, Headmistress, Noble High School Kunjathbail, Mangalore and Venkat Rao, Headmaster, Jawaharlal Nehru High School, Shirthady, Moodbidiri.

Kalaburagi, Apr 20: With no COVID-19 case reported here on Sunday, the total number of virus-infected people in the district stood at 22.

While three persons have succumbed to the infection in the district so far, three others have been cured and discharged.

"No COVID-19 case was reported in Kalaburagi district today. Total 22 positive cases and 3 deaths have been reported in the district till date. Three persons have been cured," said District Magistrate B. Sharat.

Karnataka's total count of coronavirus patients has surged to 390, said the State Health Department on Sunday.

"Six new cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 in the State from 5 pm on Saturday till 5 pm on Sunday. Cumulatively, 390 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state," it said.

Mangaluru Jul 11: A member of Adyar gram panchayat, who was attacked by a gang last night breathed his last at a private hospital in the city.

Mohammed Yaqoob, who was a BJP backed member of Adyar GP was attacked near his village by a gang at around 9 pm on Friday.

In spite of sustaining serious injuries, he managed to return home. 

He then hired an auto-rickshaw and went to Highland Hospital along with his son. 

However, he breathed his last there without responding to any treatment.

According to sources, the victim knew one of the assistants.

It is suspected that political or personal rivalry might be the reason for the attack. However the exact motto behind the attack is not yet known. 

A case has been registered in Kankanady Rural police station.

Karwar, Jan 4: One student died and twelve others were seriously injured when a school bus in which they were travelling from Anantapur district fell into a gorge near Gerusoppa Soolemarki Cross in Honnavar taluk of Uttar Kannada district last night, police said on Saturday.

The deceased student has been identified as T Basha Fakruddin (14).

Police said on that on Friday students of a government school from Anantapur district were on a trip to Jog, Murdeshwar and other places. There were 44 children, nine teachers and four cooking staff in the bus, police said.
