Mangalore, June 19: Police have failed to make any breakthrough in the brutal murder case of a woman and her three children at Bettampadi village in Puttur taluk.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal told media persons at his office on Tuesday that the district police were still clueless on the whereabouts of Venkatramana Bhat, who allegedly murdered his wife and three children at his home on June 14 before disappearing.
He said that police have already questioned many people in connection with the case. Two teams have been constituted to probe into the incident led by led by Puttur ASP and DCIB, he said.
These teams will search for the accused at various places including Kerala, Maharastra, Bangalore etc, he said.
The accused has switched off his mobile but the police have found that the accused had thrown his mobile in Kakkur area before leaving the village.
Mr Goyal said that though Bhat looked like an eccentric person and his strange behaviour had raised many suspicions. He had registered a theft case at jurisdictional police station nearly two weeks ahead of the murder. However there were few discrepancies in his complaint.
