Mangalore, June 20: People in the city were astounded to find a bunch of human skulls and other skeletal remains in a plastic bag abandoned close to KSRTC bus stand on Wednesday morning.
A passer-by, who noticed the unusual things amidst the garbage adjacent to the bus stand compound, informed the people around him before giving message to police.
The police, who rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information, searched the area for any other remains or clues and seized the skeletal remains.
According to the eye witnesses, there were four human skulls and a few pairs of femur bones and limb bones.
The police suspect that some medical students might have dumped the skulls into the bin.
Usually in medical colleges the skulls and bones will be initialed for identification during experiments. However, it was not immediately confirmed whether the recovered human remains contain such marks.
It is learnt that the police may hand over the skeletal remains to a government hospital for medical opinion. The police may also send the remains to the forensic lab for further examination.
It can be recalled here that on June 11, 2011, four skulls and some bones were found in a garbage bin near Morgan's Gate in the city.
