Mangalore, July 14: The Popular Front of India has planned a nationwide campaign demanding the release of innocent Muslim youths illegally detained in prisons across India.
According to KM Shareef, general secretary of PFI, the month-long campaign will be launched on August 15 this year to mark the Independence Day.
Mr Shareef said that it was shocking that in all states of India except Assam the percentage of Muslims jailed exceeds their population percentage in the respective states.
He said the decision was taken at the two-day national executive council meeting of PFI held in New Delhi
The meeting observed that a large number of innocent youths languish in prisons as under-trials with their court proceedings indefinitely delayed.
