Recruitment for 700 vacant posts in forest department soon: Minister

Mangalore, Aug 3: The recruitment process for the around 700 vacant posts in forest department will begin soon, according to Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath Rai.

Speaking after inaugurating newly constructed Mangalore Circle Office of Chief Conservator of Forest, at Alape Padil, on Saturday, Mr Rai said that since there was the problem providing reservation for Hyderabad-Karnataka area, the recruitment process was not completed so far.

Soon after obtaining reservation percentage list from the Centre, the selection process for 700 vacant posts of forest guards, watchers and other officials will be held, he said.

Answering the queries about helping villagers in naxal affected area, Mr Rai said that the forest department would take the help of anti naxal force in this regard.

The newly inaugurated office, consisting of 4059 square feet, was built at a cost of Rs 70 lakh.

Bengaluru, Apr 30: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, has directed the Bengaluru City Police to return all the vehicles, which were seized during the Coronavirus Lockdown period, for having flouted rules.

The City Police Commissioner, Bhaskar Rao, informed that it was decided to return the seized vehicles to the owners, after verifying documents.

He said that the vehicles had been seized while enforcing strict guidelines, issued to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, in the city.

Bengaluru, Jun 26: A 60-year-old woman, who tested positive for COVID-19 positive and was undergoing treatment, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the restroom of KC General hospital last night.

According to the police, the 60-year-old female COVID-19 patient hung herself in the restroom of KC general hospital in Bengaluru. She was admitted to the hospital on June 18 along with her daughter-in-law and grandson.

"Around 2 am, she went to the washroom. When she did not return back, her daughter-in-law went to check where she found her hanging dead," confirmed Bengaluru police.

An investigation into the matter is underway, police said.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: A total of 4,764 new COVID-19 cases and 55 deaths were reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 2,050 cases were reported in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases stands at 47,069, said the state Health Department.

Death toll rises to 1,519 in the state.
