Trader from Agra dies of cardiac arrest in Mangalore

Mangalore. Oct 10: A footwear wholesaler hailing from Agra, who was in Mangalore to collect his payments, died of cardiac arrest at Mangalore Central railway station, on Tuesday.

The deceased is Sulthan Ahmed (51) from Agra. He had been doing business with local traders over the last 20 years. He would to travel to Mangalore once in three months to collect his orders and payments from the local traders.

On September 30, he left from Agra and after visiting Mumbai and Bangalore, reached Mangalore on October 6.

After completing his work, he was about to proceed towards Calicut on Tuesday. However, while he was waiting for his train at the station, he suffered from a massive cardiac arrest on the platform and died at about 11.30 a.m.

The locals who were around, took his mobile and dialed the last number and informed about the person about the incident. Soon, A K Nazeer from Shoe Bazar, Mangalore rushed to the spot and took him to Wenlock Hospital. However, he was declared dead.

On Wednesday, Zahid Sulthan, son of the deceased arrived in Mangalore and claimed the dead body.

Mangaluru, May 2:  Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesperson P V Mohan on Saturday urged the district administration to find the source of coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.

He asked the district administration to ascertain from where a woman from Bantwal's Kasba contracted virus on April 19.

''We do not want to convert Dakshina Kannada into Nanjangud,'' Mr Mohan said referring to the mysterious case of Patient 52 from Nanjangud who has been identified as the main source of virus to the rest of the positive individuals in Nanjangud.

As per sources, Muttappa Rai’s condition is said to be serious.

Mangaluru, Apr 7: The virology lab set up in Wenlock Hospital here to test COVID-19 samples will start functioning from Tuesday, Karnataka District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said.

In his tweeter Mr Poojary said “After receiving approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV), the Virology Research and Diagnostic Laboratory set up at district Wenlock will start operating from April 7. The samples for COVID-19 will be tested in the district itself. I thank the state government for helping us set up the lab.”

The new Lab becomes the 10th government lab for testing COVID-19 samples in the state.
