Mangalore May 26: A Condolence meet to the families and relatives of Air Crash victims was organized in Milagres Church grounds in Mangalore on Wednesday, May 26. It was initiated by Mangalore Catholic Diocese. Prominent personalities from Hindu as well as Muslim communities took part in the meet that accentuated the unity exhibited during the time of air crash.

Addressing the gathering Manohar Prasad, Senior Reporter, Udayavani , said that the incident which claimed 158 lives, has disturbed the peace of whole world. The people who lent their hands at that hour of crisis stand as testimony to the existence of humanity which is an example for all of us. The incident has taken away something irreplaceable from the families, relatives and friends of the victims. Many relations saw their end on that day, Prasad said.

Further, he narrated many small incidents unveiling the stories of the people who made their final journey on that day that left many an eye moist.

Dr Shantaram Shetty expressing his thoughts said that Mangaloreans help people in times of need and the crash episode was a witness to that. It is our prayer that such an incident shouldn't occur anywhere in the world. No one should face such a pain again, he said praying that the families are able to cope up with the loss that they have suffered.

Fr O'Neil D'Souza, CODP Director, said the families are in need of support and it is our responsibility to console and give sympathies to them. We must pray that for the peace of the souls of those who have died. The mass gathering here says we are with you. We should reinforce confidence in the families so they can live their life once again, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Muhammad Kunhi said that death is a bitter truth that nobody likes. We try to postpone death as much as possible, but no matter how hard we try, death is sure to come. Our death has been decided. Nothing is a co-incidence. Such incidents make it hard for us to believe that it is the truth. We have to believe in God and He knows what has to be done. The unity, patience, and kindheartedness shown by the people should be recorded in history which will guide us in many ways. All our words cannot help the families in any way. This incident has shown us what life is. We have to learn a lot from this. Death treats all equally. This has brought people together. Let us show the way to a better social living. We should do whatever we can but the strength to the families can only be given by God, he said.

Rev Fr Aloysius Paul D' Souza, Bishop Mangalore Diocese prayed for the eternal peace of the souls and expressed his sympathies to the families. When a child is born it cries and all people smile. But this incident has made the entire Mangalore cry. It has filled the lives of the families of the victims with darkness. The bodies may be no more but their memories will forever remain with us. There are many saddening stories of the irreplaceable loss. The pain is inexplicable. He read out the condolence note from the Pope and mentioned the names of many who had sent their condolences on this tragic incident.

The Bethany sisters prayed for the Souls and strength for the families. They also sang a hymn Nammanindu Santhaisalu, Munnadesalu, Nanna Deva Endendu Jotegiru…..on the occasion.

Fr Valerian Menezes said that the families, relatives and friends have lost their dear ones, but life must go on and the journey shouldn't stop.

Congress leaders Moideen Bava, and Ivan D'Souza, Dr Shantaram Shetty and Fr Aloysius Paul D'Souza offered garlands toan symbolic grave as a tribute to the 158 people who died in the mishap.

Before the condolence programme Bishop with other priests offered a mass to the Dead people and Strength to the families.

Kalaburagi, Jan 1: Fighting penury and partial blindness in one eye, a 39-year-old part-time Kannada lecturer from Kalaburagi district is set to become a commercial tax officer after cracking the Karnataka Administrative Services.

Ambadas Kamble, from Kotana Hipparaga village in Aland taluk, had to take a three-year gap during his school and college years - one-year break after completing Class VII and two years to clear subjects after he failed in II PU examinations. During those three years, he joined his brothers in masonry work to supplement the family's income.

Sweeping aside all hurdles with grit and determination, Ambadas studied Kannada literature for both undergraduate and postgraduate to land the post of a part-time lecturer in a Kalaburagi college. His father died when he was a child, and mother Chandamma supported her family of six - besides, Ambadas, she has two sons and two daughters - by working in houses in the neighbourhood.

Ambadas said he would like to dedicate his success to his mother, who died in the year 2012. "My mother encouraged me to chase my dream - financial difficulties notwithstanding - and allowed me to spend time in the library when my siblings were busy doing menial jobs to fund my education. I'm grateful to my brothers too," he said.

His two brothers are working as masons in Mumbai, having quit studies midway and deciding to support Ambadas - the first in the family to complete graduation. He did high school at Tadkal village in Aland taluk, and college in Kalaburagi.

The lecturer, who's 40% blind in the right eye, cracked the KAS examinations in his third attempt and stood 706th in the state. He has been selected for first-grade officer's post. Alongside, he's doing PhD in Kannada literature.

When his efforts finally paid off, Ambadas landed four job offers: Hostel warden at Morarji Desai hostel, at an SC/ST hostel, post of a lecturer and the tax officer's post. He picked the fourth to serve the state in right earnest.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Playing down the simmering discontent among the disgruntled legislators who missed a cabinet berth again, Karnataka BJP on Tuesday denied any revolt brewing against Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.

"An unsigned letter in Kannada circulating in the social media is bogus, as it was fabricated in the name of Santosh, a private secretary to Yediyurappa. No revolt is brewing against the Chief Minister," party spokesman G. Madhusudhana told news agency here.

In the second cabinet expansion on February 6, only 10 newly-elected legislators, who defected from the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) in July, were inducted, leaving the party's many aspiring lawmakers miffed.

"The talk of about 20 loyal MLAs ganging up against Yediyurappa is a speculation as rumour mills are working overtime. No rebellion is brewing against the Chief Minister," asserted the official.

On the charge that Yediyurappa's younger son B.Y. Vijayandra was acting like a 'super or de facto CM' and medalling in the state administration, Madhusudhana said the latter was only assisting his father in party activities as he was also a party worker.

"As Yediyurappa is 76 years old and ageing, Vijayandra is helping his father in party affairs so that he (Chief Minister) could be free to attend to administration," Madhusudhana said.

Yediyurappa's elder son B.Y. Raghavendra is a three-time BJP Lok Sabha member from Shimoga in the state's Malnad area.

With six cabinet posts vacant in the 34-member ministry, many legislators, including eight-time MLA Umesh Katti, are upset that they have not been rewarded for their loyalty to the party even six months after the BJP returned to power again in the southern state.

On the purported meeting of about 20 BJP MLAs at the residence of state Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar here on Monday, Madhusudhana said it was a "get-together" as they were all in Bengaluru again to attend the budget session of the state legislature which began on Monday.

"There is no crisis in the party. Our government is stable and will complete the remaining three-year term in office till May 2023," he added.
