New Delhi, August 25: Five people were killed in fresh violence in Chirang district of Assam on Saturday. Curfew has been imposed in the district to curb further clashes between Bodo tribals and Muslim settlers.
The neighbouring district of Kokrajhar has been put on high alert following the latest violence.
Earlier, Bodoland Peoples' Front MLA, Pradeep Brahma, was arrested on Thursday for his alleged role in the ethnic riots in state. MLA's supporters had, then, warned the state government to release their leader or face their wrath.
The unending month-long violence has taken the lives of many people and left thousands homeless.
