New Delhi, October 21: Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh has suggested that there was evidence against the kin of former Prime Minster Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani on alleged corruption and wrong-doing but Congress will never use that to embarrass them.

Singh also rejected as "hollow" and "media hype" the allegations of "nexus" among Sonia Gandhi's son-law Robert Vadra, DLF and Congress government in Haryana to give Vadra undue benefits in land dealings. Defending Gandhi, the Congress leader said that she was not Vadra's "Chartered Accountant" to question his rising assets.

"Not only me. There were lot of things, which came out during the NDA regime. But did Congress party ever use that. We will never use this... if I say, I do not have it (evidence against kin of Advani and Vajpayee), then it is not correct," Singh said replying to a volley of questions by Karan Thapar in Devil's Advocate programme on CNN-IBN.

He was asked about his statement that he had evidence against kin of Vajpayee and Advani.

Replying to questions, Singh also said that the evidence, which he has, "could" lead to allegations of corruption and wrong-doing against them and will be embarrassing for the leaders.

The AICC general secretary, was quick to add "politicians are also human beings. We are not gods...We can't keep a track or check on the innumerable relations, we have".

"Why should I be a complainant," Singh shot back arguing that there is Parliament and a number of authorities to look into these matters, when asked why was he not disclosing the evidence he has against kin of Vajpayee and Advani.

Dismissing allegations against Vadra, Singh said that there is no illegality in speedy clearance in mutation of land or change of land use permission, which are said to have happened in DLF-Vadra land deals.

"Sonia Gandhi is not the chartered accountant of Robert Vadra," he said, wondering whether "mothers-in-law also do the accounting for sons-in- law," when asked whether Congress president was aware of the rise in fortune of Vadra and whether she ever questioned it.

It is now being questioned that why the files moved so fast in the case of Vadra's land dealings, Singh said, adding that speed is not impropriety and should instead be rewarded.

New Delhi, Apr 15: The Union Health Ministry has identified 170 districts as COVID-19 hotspots and 207 districts as potential hotspots, officials said on Wednesday, reiterating that there has been no community transmission of the disease in the country so far.

Addressing the daily briefing to provide updates on coronavirus situation in the country, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal said that states have been asked to classify districts which have reported a higher number of cases as hotspots, the districts where cases have been reported as non-hotspots, and green zones where no cases have been reported.

"Hotspots are those districts which are reporting more number of cases or where the rate of growth of COVID-19 cases is high," Agarwal said, adding a detailed direction has been issued to states stating consolidated efforts are required to utilise this period of lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

"Cabinet secretary held a video conference today with all chief secretaries, DGPs, health secretaries, collectors, SPs, municipal commissioners and CMOs where hotspots were discussed and orientation on field level implementation of containment strategy was given.

"They were told about large outbreak containment strategies, cluster containment strategies. Delineation of buffer and containment zone, parameter mapping, defining of entry and exit points were also discussed in detail," he said.

The joint secretary said movement of people will not be allowed in containment zones except for those related with essential services and special teams will search for new cases and samples will be collected and tested as per sampling criteria.

The officials said that health facilities in buffer zone outside the containment zone will be oriented and people facing SARI and influenza-like symptoms will be tested there.

"Special teams have been formed which will work in containment zone and do contact tracing and house-to-house surveys. Cases of fever, cough and breathlessness will be identified in the survey and requisite action will be taken as per protocol," Agarwal said, adding that there has been no community transmissions so far but some local outbreaks.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 11,439 with 1,076 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours while the death toll stands at 377, the ministry official said.

Srinagar, Jun 30: On the deadly attack at Karachi Stock Exchange on Monday morning, a Kashmiri social activist and journalist warned that the incident is a stark reminder to all those in Pakistan supporting Jihad and attacked Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan for ignoring development agenda in Balochistan.

Yana Mir, the editor-in-chief of The Real Kashmir News, said, "Karachi Stock Exchange attack is a reminder to all those in Pakistan supporting Jihad. Remember @imrankhan that Youth is restless and they want development agenda. These young boys of BLA are also looking for a life which is settled and peaceful. Wake up Imran Khan and you Kashmiris also. Pakistan is going to finish you. Open your eyes."
Four heavily armed terrorists attacked the busy Pakistan Stock Exchange building in Karachi with grenades today, killing four security guards and a police officer before being shot dead in an exchange of fire, authorities said.

The terrorists, who arrived in a car, stormed the Karachi Stock Exchange building by firing indiscriminately and lobbed grenades at the main gate of the multi-storey building situated in the city's high-security commercial hub.

Balochistan is a well-known region rich in natural resources but the Balochis have always been deprived of basic facilities. No hospitals are available in Balochistan. If there are some then medical facilities and equipment are not available in hospitals. The education system is pathetic and similar is the case with the infrastructure: the roads, water system, agriculture and almost all fields of life.

It is pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances and abductions by the Pakistani military establishment have also been carried out regularly and for innumerable times in Balochistan. Leaders, activists, and vocal members of various student organizations have been detained by the security forces and kept in confinement. While others have been shot dead.

This crime against humanity has been going on for so long and so systematically in Balochistan that it has come to be considered as a normal state of affairs in the province. Many social and human rights activists have flagged the issue of oppression by the Pakistani establishment before the United Nations and other international agencies.

According to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, an entity established by the Pakistani government, about 5,000 cases of enforced disappearances have been registered since 2014. Most of them are still unresolved.

Independent local and international human rights organisations put the numbers much higher. Around 20,000 have reportedly been abducted only from Balochistan, out of which more than 2,500 have turned up dead as bullet-riddled dead bodies, bearing signs of extreme torture.

Before being elected as Prime Minister, Imran Khan had admitted in multiple interviews about the involvement of Pakistan's intelligence agencies in enforced disappearances as well as extrajudicial killings and vowed to resign if he was unable to put an end to the practice, holding those involved responsible. But times have passed and only reports are available to narrate the true story.
