New Delhi, November 27: Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and vowed to send "corrupt" ministers to jail within six months of his party being voted to power. Addressing an impressive gathering at Parliament Street in New Delhi, Kejriwal also asserted that Jan Lokpal will be passed in Parliament within 15 days of the AAP coming to power.

"There is no end to the list of corrupt ministers and leaders in the country. All these people should be charged and sent to jail if charges against them are proved. "I assure you people that if the common man's party and common man come to power, all these people will be tried and jailed within six months," he said in his valedictory address at the launch ceremony.

Flanked by Shanti Bhushan and former Navy Chief Admiral Ramdass who drafted the party's Constitution, he took pains to explain to people assembled there how different his outfit was from the existing politicial parties whom he accused of having "looted the country since Independence."

Kejriwal also announced that former Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Justice Bhagwati Prasad Sharma and Admiral Ramdass will be members of the party's first "internal Lokpal" which would inquire into any allegations against members and functionaries of the AAP. He said the 2014 elections would witness a unique political battle which would not be between two political parties, but between politicians and the common man.

"Now it will be neta (politician) versus aam admi (common man). The common man, suffering for the last 65 years, is going to establish his own party and sit in Parliament," he said.

The activist-turned-politician said November 26 will be remembered for launching a revolution to change the current political system. "We have to snatch the power from politicians which we gave to them 65 years back. We are first-class citizens but victims of a third-class government. We trusted that these politicians will fight for us. But they have been looting the country," Kejriwal said. He also administered four oaths to his supporters -- I will never give or take bribe; I will never sell my vote for a liquor bottle, money or saree; I will execrise my franchise in every election and I will not vote according to my caste or religion.

At the function, Kejriwal and others also paid rich tributes to those NSG commandos who fought valiantly against terrorists in Mumbai on the same day four years ago. A former NSG commando Surinder Singh, who came out in open alleging that he was not given pension, was honoured by Admiral (Retd) L Ramdas.

Asserting that his party would be transparent in its functioniong and will put out details of all expenses and donations on its website, Kejriwal dared the Congress and BJP to make public the amount of money they have and they would be spending on advertisements for the Gujarat polls. "Do they have the guts to make them public?" he asked. Kejriwal said jawans and farmers should be given priority and said the family of a jawan should be given at least Rs 1 or 2 crore if he dies fighting for the nation.

"If a person scores century in cricket, he is given Rs 1 crore or 2 crore. I am not saying they should not be given, but Army jawans should also be given money," he said. Kejriwal also attacked the Government on inflation, saying it was rising only because of corruption and accused the UPA government of shifting Jaipal Reddy from Petroleum Ministry due to "pressure from Reliance".

He also claimed that the Government waived taxes worth Rs 5 lakh crore every year due from various companies but does not reduce tax burden on common man. The activist-politician also said that everyone who wants to become the party's founder-member can do so till Saturday next.

Lucknow, Jan 16: The drive initiated by Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government to identify non-Muslim immigrants in the state seems to have run into rough weather.

In Pilibhit, where the maximum number of about 35,000 illegal immigrants has been identified, it has now been found that information is being sought by the state government on an unverified document. A large number of families from Bangladesh settled here several decades ago.

The survey began last month even before the bill was notified. Moreover, the feedback email on the questionnaire is a Gmail ID -- [email protected] -- which is not a government server.

It is not known how the state government is drawing up the lists without having the verification criteria.

After the report was put up by a news website, Home Department officials feigned complete ignorance about the issue.

A spokesman said: "This was an unofficial and preliminary exercise to assess the number of illegal migrants in the state. The document is meant to collect basic beneficiary information. No list of potential beneficiaries has yet been sent to Delhi."

The document has eight columns asking for name, father's name, place of stay in India, and where did they come from and when. It does not mention any requirement of proof, or documents.

It also asks for a description of the kind of atrocities they faced, presumably in their home country.

The District Magistrate of Pilibhit claimed they are checking documents of the refugees, but denied any knowledge of the unsigned document.

The CAA is meant to benefit Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014. The statement of purposes of the Act adds that it is meant to benefit those fleeing religious persecution from the above countries.

Yogi is unfit to be CM as he does not know what he speaks and does.   Its unfortunate that we are such idiot as CM.    Instead of CAA we need PAA (Politician amendment act).    We need age limit of politicians to be fixed to 65 or maximum 70 years and any one coming in politics to be free from any bad doing.   No rapists/murders/looters/decoits should be allowed to contest election.   Presently 90 percent of the politicians have bad record.  Few are rapists, murders, having spent jail term etc.

Jun 26: The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Centre and the CBSE to cancel the remaining board examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and gave the go-ahead for the scheme to award marks to students for the cancelled papers scheduled to be held in July.

A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna permitted the CBSE to issue a notification for the cancellation of the examinations.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the CBSE, said that the assessment scheme would consider marks scored by students in the last three papers of the board exams.

Both CBSE and ICSE told the top court that the results of the class X and XII board exams can be declared by the middle of July.

The top court was hearing pleas seeking relief, including scrapping of remaining exams of Class 12 scheduled from July 1 to 15, in view of increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Similar relief was sought by the ICSE Board also.
