New Delhi, Mar 10: Gearing up to launch services in India in partnership with Tatas, Malaysia-based low-cost airline AirAsia has got the Ministry of Corporate Affairs approval for the name of its Indian venture that is to be called AirAsia (India) Private Ltd.

The name of the new company has been registered in the state of Maharashtra and the approval was granted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) earlier this month, a senior official said.

The company is now in the process of incorporating itself in India and completing other formalities of submitting the required documents and certificates with the Ministry, he said. The filing process for the new venture is being completed on a fast-track basis, he added.

Before incorporating itself in India, a company needs to get its name approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, after which it is required to file an application for incorporation.

Thereafter, the company needs to file a notice of situation of registered office, followed by filings related to

particulars of appointment of managing director, directors, manager and secretary.

The country's foreign direct investment clearance body FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) has already approved investment in the new venture, wherein Malyasia-based AirAsia would hold 49 per cent stake, Tata Sons will have 30 per cent and 21 per cent stake would be owned by Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace.

Being started with an initial investment of $14.5 million (about Rs. 80 crore), AirAsia India would compete in the domestic passenger aviation space with the likes of Jet Airways, Spicejet, IndiGo, Go Air and state-run Air India.

AirAsia and Tatas announced their plans to start the low-cost airline in India on February 20, while the FIPB approved the foreign investment for the venture earlier this month.

The airline needs to get a no-objection certificate from the Aviation Ministry and thereafter an air transport license from the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) to be declared a scheduled airline.

AirAsia India would also mark the re-entry of Tatas into the aviation space after about 60 years of JRD Tata-founded Air India being nationalised in 1953.

The company is also in process of finalising its senior executive team and hiring of other employees and plans to start operations later this year.

AirAsia chief Tony Fernandez recently tweeted that he has selected the CEO for AirAsia India and the final call would be taken by the Tatas.

AirAsia group recorded a 13 per cent passenger growth in 2012 with about 33.8 million passengers carried during the year in its Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia operations.

New Delhi, Apr 11: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on hailed accredited social health activists, auxiliary nurse and midwives and anganwadi workers for their role in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, saying they are "true patriots" who toil to keep communities safe in the midst of this grave crisis.

In an environment where fear and misinformation pose a bigger danger than the virus itself, community workers have a key role to play in educating people about the dangers of COVID-19 and the manner in which it is transmitted, Gandhi said.

In a message for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), Auxiliary Nurse and Midwives (ANMs) and Anganwadi Workers, he said they are working with dedication and courage, putting their lives at risk, on the frontlines of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The greatest form of patriotism is to serve our country in her hour of need. Our community workers are true patriots, our unsung heroes, who toil tirelessly away from the limelight, to keep our communities safe in the midst of this grave crisis," the former Congress chief said.

"As a nation, we owe them and their families a huge debt of gratitude for the tremendous personal sacrifices each of them is making. I hope that when this crisis is over their exemplary service will serve as a catalyst for deep-rooted change in their conditions of work," he said.

Gandhi said he salutes each and every community worker for their service to the nation and prays that they and their families will remain safe during this pandemic.

Jaipur, July 13: Amid deepening political crisis in Rajasthan, a crucial meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will be held at the chief minister's residence here on Monday.

The Congress has issued a whip to all party legislators mandating their presence during the meeting which will be convened at 10.30 am by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has made it clear that he is not going to attend the meeting.

In a statement issued on Sunday night, Pilot had claimed that the Ashok Gehlot government was in minority and more than 30 Congress and some independent legislators have pledged support to him.

By doing so, he has openly displayed rebellion against the leadership of Gehlot.

However, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Avinash Pande has said that 109 MLAs have expressed confidence in the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state and have signed a letter in support.

Pande said a whip had been issued asking all the MLAs to attend the CLP meeting and that action will be taken against those who skip it.

In the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, the Congress has 107 MLAs and the BJP 72.

The Congress has the support of 10 out of 13 independents, and other party MLAs like Rashtriya Lok Dal (1), which is its ally. The Congress also considers Bhartiya Tribal Party (2) and CPI(M) (2) MLAs as their supporters.

BJP ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) has three MLAs in the assembly.
