"The court has delivered a verdict taking cognisance of the free hand given to loot the treasure of Bihar, we welcome the judgment," said BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain.

Reacting to the verdict, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Today, the law has taken its own course. All those who commit corruption with impunity need to understand that law will catch up with you. I am sure it will also catch up with those who are with the government of India."

The ruling Congress party also said that law has taken its own course.

"I have respect for the judgment given by the court as law does not discriminate between person to person. Law has taken its own course. We have respect for the court," party leader Rashid Alvi said.

In Patna, Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi hailed the verdict pronouncing Prasad, former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra and 43 others guilty in the multi-crore fodder scam case 17 years ago.

"Lalu has got what he had sown ..... Boya pedh (tree) babul ka to phool (flower) kahan se hoi (how could he get flower when he had sown a tree of thorn?)" he tweeted after the CBI court judge P K Singh pronounced the order.

"He got what he deserved," Modi, who was the original petitioner in the Patna High Court in the fodder scam in 1990s, said.

Modi, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, lavished praised on former CBI officer U.N. Biswas, at present a Minister in the West Bengal government, for making a foolproof case in the fodder scam and gave him the whole credit for conviction of the RJD supremo and others.

Lucknow, Jan 21: Defending his brainchild, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the new law will not be scrapped despite the countrywide protests against it.

Addressing a rally here to drum up support for the CAA, Shah also declared that construction of a Ram temple "touching the skies" in Ayodhya will begin within three months.

He said there is no provision in the amended law for taking anyone's citizenship away. "A canard is being spread against the CAA by the Congress, SP, BSP, and Trinamool Congress. The CAA is a law to grant citizenship," he added.

"I want to say that irrespective of the protests this will not be withdrawn," he added.

Shah challenged Congress leaders to hold a discussion with him on CAA at a public forum.

He named Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party's Mayawati and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee while throwing the "challenge".

Congress has become blind due to vote bank politics,"he said. He also blamed the Congress for Partition.

Kochi, Jan 11: Two of the four illegal apartment complexes were brought down by controlled implosion here on Saturday.

However, the other two apartments-- Golden Kayaloram and Jain Coral-- will be demolished on Sunday.

The demolition of the first building Holy Faith H2O, slated to be carried out at 11 am, was delayed by 18 minutes while the twin towers of Alfa Serene, which is surrounded by 36 houses, were brought down at 11.43 am.

As per authorities, as many as 343 kgs of explosives were used for the demolition of twin towers of Alfa Serene, which had 80 apartments and 16 floors each.

Section 144 has been imposed within a 200-metre radius of the complexes on Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, traffic has been halted on land, water and air in the evacuation zone during the process.

There are concerns that some concrete pieces of the second tower of the building may have fallen into the lake nearby. It is yet to be estimated if the debris or concrete pieces have affected the buildings nearby.

The four apartment complexes in Maradu were ordered to be demolished by the Supreme Court for violating the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms.
