KIFF health seminar gets huge response

Kuwait, April 15: The Kuwait India Fraternity Forum, a socio cultural organization of Indians residing in Kuwait, organized a health seminar on the theme ‘Healthy Life, Happy Life’ on Friday at Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Auditorium, Jamiyat Al-Islah Al-Ijtemayi Center, Rawdha.

The three-hour long event was inaugurated by Dr. Sulaiman Shathy, Chairman, Social Reforms Society, Kuwait.

Dr C L Abdul Rahman, Pediatrician, Ministry of Health, Jahra Hospital has spoken extensively on the topic ‘Health and Islam’. He beautifully blended the concept of health in the sights of modern medical science and Islamic point of views.

Dr Rahman outlined the Quranic verses about health and pointed out the way of livings from the life of Prophet Mohamed SAW (PBUH) and his followers towards a healthy lifestyle.

He insisted the daily prayer is an exercise, ablution washing off the germs on the surface of our skin, and he briefed about the permissible and illicit foods for mankind in the sight of Islam.

He raised his concern over the raising habits of bottle feeding and pointed out that, the increasing employment of women is a major factor which leads to the declining number of breastfeeding habits.

Dr. Thomas Isaac Neyyarapally, Physician Registrar, department of internal medicine, Al Sabah hospital, spoke on the topic ‘Heart Diseases- Facts’.

He said that some conditions as well as some lifestyle factors can put people at a higher risk for developing heart disease. All persons can take steps to lower their risk of heart disease and heart attack by addressing these risk factors.

He explained the health measurement terms ‘BMI’ and distinguished the healthy normal weight, overweight and obesity.

He added the health risks of being obesity and portrayed how it related to the heart diseases. Dr Thomas Isaac elaborated the cause and remedies of main heart diseases including Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, angina, myocardial infarction or a heart attack, Chest discomfort, irregular heart rate, stroke and cancer. He outlined the endangering of smoking or using tobacco products and consuming alcohol.

Dr. Thomas Isaac Neyyarapally recalled the World Health Organization’s Definition on Health and said that, Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Mr. Hassan Yusuf, President, Kuwait Muslim Welfare Association and Mr. S.M Basheer, President, Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association D.K Wing also spoke on the occasion.

An amazing exercise and Martial Arts demonstration on the Stage by KIFF team is also organized as part of the event which has attracted the large number of Indian expatriates who have gathered over the seminar venue.

The seminar was chaired by Mr. Abdul Salam, president, Kuwait India Fraternity Forum. Mr. Siccander Basha delivered the welcome address, anchored the proceedings and Mr. Siraj Kalladka proposed vote of thanks, the event compered by Mr. Saifudeen Kuttikkattoor.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.
