BCF hosts grand Beary Chammana-2012

Dubai, April 23: Over 1200 people attended the Beary Chammana-2012 organised by Bearys Cultural Forum-Dubai at the Radisson Blue Hotel, here.

The function started with Quran recitation followed by the programs by Beary kids, who performed various events which included fashion show, fancy dress competition, group dance, solo dance, kids drama and talent show.

Kaup Sizzler’s and Moolur Star’s group dance was enthralling. All the kids were colorfully dressed and the whole crowd appreciated the performance of the small kids. All the kids were applauded for their participation, and prizes and gifts were handed over to the performers and excelling kids. Mrs. Mumtaz Husain Kaup compared the show for the kids performance.

After the kids’ performance, the adult male members from Beary community started featuring their exemplary performance. M B Akbar and Sidddique Deralekatte compered the show for the male performance. There were soothing song sung by M B Akbar and several other performers.

The ‘daff’, ‘Beary Kolkali’, ‘Kolaveri dance’, Arabic ‘Gulu Gulu dance’, drama by Thoufeeq Halengadi group etc. were worth observing. The ‘Ancient Egyptian Tannoor’ dance was also exceptionally outstanding with great round of applause from the guest and the audience.

M K Lokesh, Indian Ambassador to the UAE was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his love and affection towards Kannadigas and praised BCF for their committed service to the society and community. Mr. Lokesh also highlighted the patronage of NRIs and their concern for social service. He was given a warm felicitation on the occasion.

Francis Xavier, Xaxa, Consul (Community Affairs), CGI, who was the special guest of honor, was conferred with special award of felicitation.

Mr. Xavier, who spoke in Kannada and Beary languages, admired the beauty of the gathering. He said that he was very impressed with the Beary Community. He appealed all Bearys to promote education, as it is the path for future development.

Jayaprakash Hegde, the Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, his wife Shoba Hegde and son Mr. Nishant and daughter Ms. Divya attended the programme as ‘special invitees’ and was conferred with International Special Award of Felicitation for Social Purpose 2012.

Mr. Hegde thanked BCF for inviting him to Beary Chammana-2012 and admired Bearys for showing brotherly and secular aspirations towards the society. He stressed that the political set up and responsibilities should be free from caste, creed and the true religion and thereby maintaining the secular value towards India.

Mr. Hegde promised all the Kannadigas that he will recommend to the higher authorities to upgrade the Mangalore Airport to a truly international status. Mr. Jayaprakash Hegde also promised to set up Emigration Clearance Section (ECS) in Mangalore. He also stated that he will sincerely work hard for the overall development of the region. He was amazed to see the true image of secular India by looking at the gathering of all cultures of Coastal Karnataka.

Gulzar Banu, Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation was also special invitee. She was conferred with the Bearys International Special Award of Honor 2012.

Ms Banu stated that she was highly privileged to attend this Chammana 2012. She felt as if she is at home amongst so many Kanndigas in general and Bearys in particular. She said that she is very proud to be a part and parcel of the Bearys and other Kannadigas. She also mentioned that she wants to develop Mangalore into a vibrant city.

She said she is concerned about the water scarcity problem and drought faced in and around Mangalore. However, she mentioned that appropriate measures are in place to overcome the same. She promised to do her best as the Mayor of the Mangalore City for the benefit of the region and all the people.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
