Month-long IFF health campaign in Yanbu concludes

Yanbu, June 23: ‘Healthy Life Happy Life’, a month long health awareness campaign by conducted by India Fraternity Forum, Yanbu branch was concluded with a sports’ meet at Royal Commission 9th Camp, recently.

As part of the campaign IFF volunteers visited labour camps, held corner meets on health awareness in different parts of Yanbu city.

Health awareness campaigns and sport activities were also held during the past one month. Sports like sack race, 400 * 100 meter relay, 100 meter race, three legs race, tug-of-war, Kabaddi and cricket tournaments etc were included in sports events.

KFC, MGC and many other teams from Yanbu participated in this tournament. Challengers Yanbu emerged as winner of IFF Cricket Trophy and Young Friends Yanbu won Runner up trophy. MGS won first prize in Tug of war and KFC won second prize. In 400*100 meter race KFC won first prize and MGC won second prize. Other Individual prizes also awarded to the winners.

IFF Jeddah president Mohideen presided over the function and highlighted the importance sport in life and asked expatriates to reserve a short amount of time every day for sport activity to keep themselves healthy.

Sadaf Ahmed UP welcomed the gathering and explained the importance of health and sports in life. Ashraf Manjeshwar, Abdul Rasheed Kerala and Mohammed Al Johani, Security Supervisor of Camp 9, were also present on the stage.

Mohammed Al Johani distributed awards to the winners. Muttalib Padubidri compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

ISF, Humanity Forum help cardiac patient from DK to fly back from Saudi Arabia amid lockdown

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20.

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
