Dammam: Hundreds participate in JMWA’s Gammat

Dammam, October 1: “Our noble mission is to bring about an educational revolution among the entire Muslim Community of Jokatte. Our Jokatte has already produced more than half a hundred engineers. There is growing number of Medical graduates emerging in. Even our sisters and daughters also have geared up and advancing towards academic accomplishments. It gives me profound pleasure to see this development amongst the inhabitants of our beloved Jokatte”. Zakaria Muzain was emotionally addressing the audience, welcoming the Gammatt get-together organised Jokatte Muslim Welfare Association (JMWA), Dammam.

September 20, 2012 was a day of celebration with thousands of expatriates flourishing vigorously at Isthira Al-Hala, 91, Dammam on the occasion of “Gammatt”, an event organised by JMWA as their first family gathering in a sensational style. Competitions such as Qirath, Quiz, memory test were the highlights of the event where Audio Visual Show also has attracted the audience. The splendid cultural show too had invited audience to focus their attention, during the event.

“The present day mainly pursues qualitative scenario and on that fact the Muslim community needs to be more educated in order to improve its present status and gesture", said Mr. B.S. Hussian Jokatte, an Ex. Government Gazetted Officer who headed all the way from India for a visit to Saudi Arabia and participated in ‘Gammatt’ family get-together.

From his part Mr. B.S. Hussain also divulged the history and memories of past Jokatte. He was also among the Two, who were exclusively, facilitated by JAMWA for their tremendous service to the community. The latter was Mr. Zakaria Muzain.

Mr. Mohammed Ismail Ahmed (Basheer) has addressed the gathering with the inaugural speech. He emphasized the need of developing the attitude of selflessness, inviting the people to adhere to the teaching of Quran and Sunnath keeping the life of Sahaba as a followable pattern.

The Main Guests present were, Mr. Mohammed Mansur, President, Jamiyathul Falah Dammam, Mr. Hathim Kulur, President, DKSC, Eastern Province, Mr. Abdussamad, Representative IFF Dammam, all of whom have applauded the efforts of the organization. Mr. Ahmed, Hit Pest control, Sheik Expertise, Ismail NGC & Mr. Mohammed Haneef AKF President, JMWA, Riyadh were also on the dais. Mr. Mohammed Sharafullah, President, JMWA Dammam, has briefed the objectives of the organization in his words as “to promote a noble cause titled “BE A PART OF RURAL EDUCATION” mainly targeting to provide educational assistance to the needy talents of the community who are held back due to the extreme pangs of poverty”. Mr. Abdul Hakeem TPH has recited the Quran in the beginning and Mr. Sharaf himself said the vote of thanks. A memento of appreciation has been given to Mr. Sharief Karkala for his outstanding efforts in the field of community service.

Al-Hala Compound Hall was jam packed by 10 pm and over 1500 people have gathered and enjoyed the event. Sports & games for youngsters and indoor games were held for children. Volleyball for Youngsters as people were seen enthusiastically participating with the spirit of fun. Ladies had indoor activities in a separate enclosure. Delicious dinner was served along with snacks and tea in the night.

Qira’ath competition, Spot quiz-included of Islamic & other general knowledge for men were also held.

The Audio visual show at which the spectators were thrilled to see the history and the educational advancement of Jokatte.

Cultural programmes were held in which Islamic melodious songs and “duff” the traditional Islamic event by children steeled the concentration of audience. Finally there was a Raffle Draw for a lucky winner and the Fabulous Prize was a Laptop Note Book. Mr. Arif A.M and Sherief Arikere compered the programme in gents section and Sakeena N.M compered in ladies section.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
