Cricket tournament for Kannadigas held in Sharjah

Sharjah, October 1: A cricket tournament was conducted by Karnataka Sangha Sharjah on Friday at Zabeel cricket ground to mark their decennial celebration.


The tournament was inaugurated by Sathish Venkatramana, along with president of KSS Sathish Poojary and other committee members. True to its objectives, a uniqueness of the event was the representation of several different communities from Karnataka.


A total of 10 teams from various communities participated in the event. These constituted of Dubai Billawas, Ganiga Samaja, Beary Cultural Forum, Vishwakarman Samithi UAE, Bunts UAE, Usvas Shirva UAE, Mogaveeras UAE, Basawa Samithi UAE, Devadiga Sangha with KSS as the host.


Mogaveeras UAE and Devadiga Sangha made their way to the finals and the tournament saw Mogaveeras lift the trophy in a nail biting finish.


The cricket cup tournament is a part of Mega Mayura Cup tournament organised by KSS which is open for all Kannadigas residing in the U.A.E.


Events such as throw ball for men and women, volleyball and kabaddi for men and various games for children are scheduled to be held on November 23 at the Wanderers Club in Sharjah.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.
