Shooting begins for Shodhan Prasad’s 'Nirel'

Dubai, October 28: The muhurat of the much-talked about Tulu movie 'Nirel' (Shadow), a love story which was recently launched during the grand 'Tuluvere Parba 2012' at Indian High School Grounds in front of a record number of Tulu audience of UAE, was held at the producer's residence in Tamweel Towers, JLT, Dubai on October 25.

 

The programme started with Ganesh-Laxmi puja by Purohit Raghu Bhat who ably concluded the puja and blessed the whole team of 'Nirel'. With prayers for grand success of the movie, he also garlanded the main hi-tech movie camera and showered blessings from Almighty for the smooth functioning of the shooting. The script book was handed over to 'Nirel' director Ranjith Bajpe after the puja.

 

"It is nice to know that Tulu cinema which recently started gaining momentum in coastal Karnataka is now spread across and making waves in Dubai too," said Sarvotham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and UAE Bunts, who presided over the programme and clicked the clapboard for the Muhurat shot of the movie.

 

"It is also great to know that the same people of coastal Karnataka who have come to Dubai to work have taken up the challenge of forming a group of amateur artistes and presenting 'Nirel' Tulu movie with an interest in promoting Tulu cinema," he added.

 

With an aim to promote Tulu and also to provide a platform to the newcomers in filmdom, producer Shodhan Prasad, a well-known social activist and Theater personality, under the banner of 'Sandhya Creations' have groomed the local talents who were auditioned and teamed into 'Nirel' a maiden venture. While welcoming the guests at his residence, Shodhan Prasad requested all Tuluvas and cinema lovers to support this venture and bless the Team.

 

Speaking to the media, Shodhan Prasad said the movie will be made to promote Tulu language and that is the reason he gave full freedom to the team in selection of cast and other crew. Director Ranjith Bajpe thanked the producer for his support and trust on the team and he expressed the team will be given a fresh experience to the Tulu loving people. At the same time he thanked the team for their support and co-operation.

 

The lead actor of the movie Anoop is thrilled by the first chance he got as a hero and is confident that his dancing skills blended with acting will surely entertain the movie watchers. Actresses Varuna Shetty and Deepthi Salian were very much excited with the opportunity and thrilled by the wide response from the movie lovers.

The singers are Akshatha Rao, Abhishek S.N, Shiva Kumar and Pramod Kumar. Acme's Harish Sherigar will be doing a very special appearance along with famous Sandalwood actor Ramesh Arvind.

 

Dr B R Shetty who wished to be part of the programme could not attend due to last minute commitment. Other invitees who attended the Muhurat include Savotham Shetty, Herman Lewis, James Mendonca, B G Mohandas, Jayaram Rai, Sudhakar Alva, Purushottam Salian and many other well-known personalities who wished for the success of the 'Nirel' Tulu movie.

 

'Nirel' will be the first overseas Tulu movie to be entirely shot in various beautiful natural locations in UAE and surroundings. Shooting will start immediately and the shooting is expected to complete by April 2013. The movie will be initially launched in the UAE and the Gulf, and later in India.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Jeddah: The first chartered flight for repatriation passengers from Jeddah to Bengaluru organized by Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah – Saudi Arabia was successfully landed at Bengaluru airport by 01.00 am on 19th July 2020.

Spice Jet (SG9884) departed from King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah by 05.00 pm local time with 177 stranded passengers which includes 12 Pregnant Woman, 3 infants, 44 Short term visa holders, 3 medical emergency patients and 115 migrate workers and labours from various districts of Karnataka state.

Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah, a registered charitable organization under Government of Karnataka & Indian Consulate Jeddah - Saudi Arabia, helping the Kannadigas overseas & in Karnataka State as well, has initiated major role for helping stranded Kannadigas to travel back to home. During Pandemic hundreds of stranded Kannadigas were approached to the forum and requested to arrange special chartered flight to Bengaluru from Jeddah.

Initiating from collecting the data of passengers, the forum’s special panel including its President Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Secretary Mr. Peter Mascarenes, Vice Presidents Mr. Nasir Khurshid, Dr.Ashfaque Maniyar, Chief Coordinator Mr. Shaikh Saoud, Cultural Secretaries Mr. Arifulla Shariff and Mr. Rajesh Suvarna, Treasurer Mr. Habib Rahman and Press Secretary Mr. Baig, the forum’s members have worked very hard to conclude this task very successful. 

The forum provided food packets as refreshment, complementary PPE kitsto each passenger as precaution against the spread of any infections while travelling and also guided all passengers by supporting them in Awdha portal (Saudi Passport Department) and Seva Sindhu portal registration of Government of Karnataka.

The official travel partner ITL Travel Management Company has rendered remarkable service to the passengers not only in ticketing but also supported with top priority in confirming the aircraft from SPICE JET and availed good service from ground staff at Jeddah Airport. 

All passengers have reached safely to their homes after completing the 7 days institutional quarantine at Bengaluru. 100% passengers had NEGETIVE report on Covid-19 test made on arrival as well as after institutional quarantine. 

In the press release published from the President, Mr. Mohammed Mansoor has expressed his prodigious gratitude to the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia H. E. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Deputy Consul General of India - Jeddah Mr. Y Saber and Chief Minister of Karnataka State Shri B. S. Yediyurappafor providing necessary approvals and NOC for the chartered flight operation. He also conveyed his boundless appreciationto Shri B. Y. Raghavendra, Member of Parliament Shimoga District (Karnataka) for his swift support extended to the forum and as well to Dr. Aarathi Krishna, Ex-Deputy Chairperson – NRI Forum of Karnataka – Government of Karnataka for her significant guidance and support on completing this mission.

The forum has thanked all the officers in King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah and Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru for the facilities provided to the passengers. Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
