Cultural extravaganza mesmerises fun lovers at ‘Dammam Winter Fest 2012’

Damam, November 30: Fun and cultural extravaganza marked the inaugural day of Dammam Winter Fest-2012 organised by Eastern Channel Company Ltd. for Federation of Indian Organisations at King Fahd Amusement Park in the city of Dammam in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Programme was started in the morning while the stage programme was held in the evening. O Abdul Rahman, the editor-in-chief of Madyamam Malayalam daily newspaper inaugurated the two-day event, which will conclude Friday evening.

Folk dance, Mapila songs among other cultural shows and kids programmes were main attraction of the evening.

Comedy skit presented by ‘Youth India Cochin’ shedding light on the problems faced by Gulf expatriates entertained the crowd.

The reproduction of recent highjack drama of Air India Express flight in Cochin stole the show. Interestingly, the skit was played on a stage where a sponsorship advertisement of ‘Air India’ was put up.

Karnataka Pavilion was represented by Mangalore Association (MASA).

Separate sections for food court, real estate exhibition and free medical check-up etc. were erected in the festival ground.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.
